You can no longer get this box of 19, they replaced it with a box of 10 for exactly the same price. They basically doubled in price by halving the models you get, with no added extras. Quite a sour tasting move if you ask me.
I thought this was a joke at first…. It’s times like these why I remember that I play Warmachine.
@thesharkattack – Total rip off, never felt more shafted by a company in my life. These are old models, I’ve been buying them since 6th edition and they’ve no excuse whatsoever to up the price like that.
Which is a shame ‘cos they aren’t bad models really, I like painting them, tricky to build in a way that ranks up though. It’s a relief that you don’t want them so much in 8th edition, you’ll be wanting Savage Orc Boys instead and they’re.. oh – the same price 🙁 Still, at least they’re new models.
£2 each? naahh
They look okay, but the amount of flash on the seams suggests the moulds are knocking on in age a bit now as mentioned.
Having just come from the Mantic “Top Secret” Orc piccies I can see where my reinforcements are coming from.
30 orcs for a couple of quid more, and they provisionally look very good.
Apologies for commenting on Mantic here, but the comment function was unavailable for some reason.
Cant’t find the comment button either. Wait for Mantics orcs if the’re anything like this “top secret” photos there way cooler, better, cheaper than GWs. Finally Mantic brought some details to their models. Go on Mantic, more details, more options, don’t rush it.
Why spears? A 4 rank horde with spears will get 40 attacks right? (20 normal, 10 horde and 10 spears)
If you get the same unit with 2 choppas you get 60! (40 normal, 20 horde)
Am I doing something wrong?
The second rank can only make one attack I belive, so 2-h weapons will turn out like 20+10+10, and spears will add one more rank to that, so…
Beasts of War – you know better them better than we do , fight back and try to get us back our larger 19 orc boxes!!!!
10 models now for what the best part of twenty quid? no chance. Mantic here I come.
I disagree about the usefulness of 2 choppas over shields. A) as Stortotta said only the front rank benefits from multiple attacks (p.48-49?). So 40 attacks from a unit 30 strong and ten across. A 40 strong horde with spears has the same amount of attacks. B) The shields with their armor bonus give boys a chance to save against stronger shooting and a better chance against regular strength 3 shooting. Tack on the parry save(p.88) in basic HtH and you can possibly keep the unit at decent fighting strength for a round or 2 more. Maybe long enough for… Read more »
I don’t know which is worse, the watered~down book we got or the “higher price/less models” per a box.
Still, I shell out the green for savage orcs as I love them too much 😀
I was hoping for an updated orc boyz box, even if they just added bows, but no luck.
