A sinister assassin with a magical sniper rifle… what!
Andy tells us about one of his favourite solos, the mercenary Kell Bailoch.
Nice and sneaky. I like the Solomon-Kane-ish look.
Mercenarys are the Warmachine force I think I’ll go for after I get my Everblight painted.
Ashlynn and Kell are the reason I am getting a small merc list. They are joining my Menoth for the great crusade!
It’s just a pity Kell doesn’t work for Cygnar (he’s a wanted man there… so he can’t), which means he won’t work for Ashlynn and the Highborn Covenant either.
Not even if Ashlynn is a secondary caster (with a Menoth caster as well)? I don’t have the merc book yet, so I don’t know how much leeway the contracts give you when just using them in secondary positions.
You only need to worry about contract if you’re running a pure mercs force. In which case Kell isn’t a member of the Highborne Covenant.
If you were using Ashlynn as a secondary warcaster for the PoM then you could include Kell Bailock, but PoM are one of those factions with lots of “faction only” buffs. So mixing them with a mercs warcaster is often a poor choice compared with an in faction Warcaster.
But who am I to judge!
Kell Bailock is awesome… magical weapon is the reason to take him. 2pts gives you a solo who can snipe Pistol Wraiths from 14″ away and wipe ot Void Spirits and other Undead/Ghostly assassins.
Use him with Magnus the Traitor to give him Snipe for 18″ RNG when in a Mercs force or add him to the Four Star Syndicate, under the command of Gorten Grundback, where Solid Ground and Stealth/Prowl protects him from AoE bombardment.
If you’re running Khador, try a unit of Widowmakers, a Widowmaker Marksman and Kell Bailock for 6 points of auto-damage every turn… auto-damage that can be placed on a warjack’s damage grid… savage!
My only complaint is that you can’t use reinholdt with him to get a third shot off.
