Ares Games has announced that they will join forces with a startup company out of France called ePawn. This joint effort will result in a product called ePawn Arena and Wings of Glory will be one of the first games available.

WoG App

ePawn Arena is a digital device that can track miniatures on its surface and relay that information to an application whether it is on a smartphone, tablet or PC. The application itself will have the interface and all the movements and other items to be tracked.

According to the announcement the ePawn Arena will allow you to play many different systems, almost like a gaming console does. You place the miniatures on the board and interact with the application. It is an interesting idea almost along the lines of Golem Arcana but with the flexibility of changing games if you want some variety. This project is supposed to go live on Kickstarter on July 7.

I know many of you are all against have technology intermixed with their wargames, but I have a feeling that this is the wave of the future and before you now it you will be playing holographic miniatures on a battlefield with real movement and action.

Are you ready for the digital age?
