Dark Eras 2 presents players with the rules and background they need to play out their games in various stages of the Chronicles of Darkness’ alternate history.
This book will feature six chapters, each detailing a different historical era through the lense of two different game lines, such as Vampire the Requiem or Hunter the Vigil.
Currently, the historical periods are The French Revolution, the Western Front of WWI, the 1600s in Europe, 100 to 50 BCE and the seven wonders of the ancient world, and China from 1644 to 1911, with more information coming out as stretch goals.
I have made it no secret that I love the world of Chronicles of Darkness and World of Darkness, so the idea of playing those games in different time periods is one that really appeals. I once did play a game of Demon the Fallen where we were gangsters in prohibition era Chicago, and it was a lot of fun to see how these beings interract with that historical setting.
It does open up new possibilites, although there are plenty of pitfalls such concepts can fall into (assigning every major event to hidden paranormal entities for one thing). However, exploring the dark shadows of history should allow for some very interesting chronicles.
Which period of history do you think it would be best to explore? Will you chip in on this Kickstarter?
