X-Wing Miniatures Wave 5 Announced & Bigger is Better!

Fantasy Flight Games has just announced their wave 5 ships set to be released in the third quarter of 2014. Continuing with their theme so far this year, it would appear bigger is better.
The two ships being released will include the YT-2400 for the Rebellion and the VT-49 Decimator for the Empire. With each of these new ships expansion packs there will be included some new upgrades and characters along with some new terrain pieces (in card stock).
The YT-2400 looks to be another Corellian freighter that has been converted for space combat. It has thirteen weapons points, which will make for some interesting weapons arrangements and tactics. Lando Calrissian and a new character Dash Rendar are also included along with some interesting upgrades designed by the first two world champions of X-Wing.
The VT-49 Decimator is a pretty menacing looking ship, and by the looks of it has one task and that is destruction to any ship that gets in it's way. With this expansion you get two new characters also, Mara Jade and Fleet Officer along with new upgrades.

Oh wow. They’ve totally got the aesthetic – much more so than the prequels!
I like that Lando Crew upgrade. IT can be great, but it’s a real gamblers upgrade. As it should be.
Expanded universe ships! No longer canon… The outrider piloted by dash rendar is from the shadows of the empire game/novel/all the merchandise just no movie-thing, and the other I believe is from that Star Wars galaxies mmorg.
loving the Decimator – got a Revell Venator class destroyer, the decimator looks like the perfect escort!
That’s really cool, like a Millennium Falcon from 40k!
Love them – will get them to add to the ‘Rebel Scum’ and the ‘Evil Empire’.

I’d like to see these next to an X-wing for scale.
judging by the bases they look like they’re on a par with larger craft like the Falcon or Slave, wonder if they’ll be around the same price mark…
looking cool, but I don’t really get the whole wider universe thing with Star Wars – but these are tempting. Plus the card additions are always useful. Damn you FFG

I haven’t seen a single wave 4 ship yet 🙁 I need an E wing before I even begin to drool over these.
I opened up this article looked at the first picture, hadn’t read anything, and just said. Wow they look really corellian, it was easy to spot. Fantasy flight, really seem to have the design and look really down. Looking amazing as always.

Yep total getting both of these. That is once my FLGS gets them along with the wave three ships. And a bonus my gaming group just started a Edge of the Empire RPG campaign and the ship we recently acquired is a YT-2400 so we will soon have a neat game prop.
I totally called the release of the Outrider, I just really, really hope they’ll also release a StarViper.
