I can see the appeal, but personally this is not what I was missing. I would have been quite happy with an expansion pack with
- more maps - better enemy AI - “arcade mode” instant missions without the base management blah blah - LESS emphasis on tech tree/character advancement and more emphasis on winning through actual tactics
Maybe it’s just my ailing memory, but I seem to recall the original enemy AI being far more brutal.
