Sweet but ah you cant by that spray in NZ could you use GW red foundation paint?
Mechrite red would work well yes, but would be lot of painting by hand if you were doing it in bulk. Ive herd good things about army painter dragon red though yet to use it myself. If u have a paint spray gun that could work with the mechrite red but u dont get much in a pot so it could prove expencive have you tried getting it direct from the army painter webpage? mind you im not sure what postage ontop of it would be to NZ. Wayland games in the UK stock it and could prove to be… Read more »
Hi I’m wondering about the army painter dragon red spray. I have a few cans ordered but have a couple of questions:
Do models still require a traditional primer first?
Would the result be the same on a primed black model as a non-undercoated model or even a white undercoated model?
Do metal models chip in the same way models do if they have been base coated without traditional primer?
To answer your question on if you still need a traditional primer, if you use the Army Painter Dragon Red, that is your primer.
Would a Badab Black Wash be as good, And give it a darker look?
Hi,
I recently bought Space Hulk, the board game. I’ve painted all my genestealer using a black primer. I was wondering if I should use the same primer for my terminators or could I use the red dragon primer? Will the look of the miniatures be really different if they are not primed the same way? Genstealer in black, terminators in red…
Thanks.
If you want the red to pop on your Blood Angels, you’ll need to use a white primer.
A light primer makes the paint look brighter, black makes it look darker. However, if you are painting metallics, you need to paint the area black first.
This is because metallic paint is actually clear with tiny particles in it rather than one opaque tone… trust me you need to paint a metallic area black first… even if you use a white primer.
You’ll thank me for it I promise.
Hope that helps…

re upload!!!!! please!!!!!
Can someone tell me how that thing is called John uses to hold the miniature?
I’m not sure if it is the same as mine, but mine is called a “helping hand”
although I’m not sure what company makes it, mine looks exactly the same.
