Thanks for these tutorials Romain, they’ve been great. After watching the first few I shot out to build myself a wet pallete, it’s already making life so much easier. I also brought a few flourescent paints with which to attempt some lava. Keep up the good work.
Thanks a lot !
I’m glad this is of use to you.
It’s not so much a teaching tutorial as an inspirational one… Even though you leanr a few things about basing, priming and how to organize your mini for source-lighting (and more, if this is your first tutorial, but I explain some of the basics, including the wet palette, in more detail elsewhere).
People have wanted me to do something about lava bases for ages, and there were a few great things shown on various sites about “chiaroscuro” and source lighting… all done with an airbrush on terminators.
This tutorial is about what you can do with a brush and just a few tones. Even if you could do a lot of the cape with an airbrush, most of the highlighting here simply can’t be done (at least not in a practical manner) without touching up everything with a brush.
I’ll keep doing those tutorials… And thank you for your comment on the wet palette and the fluo paints (which you don’t necessarily need for lava, or anything, even if they’re great to have), as it reminded me that every video iw someone’s first tutorial, and I should explain some of the basics more regularly ! 🙂
Glad I was able to finally get round to watching this series Romain. It really has been inspirational and I already have a large number of ideas floating around in my head for peices I could compose.
Keep up the good work mate.
thanks ! 🙂
This is one of the best demonstrations of Object Source Lighting for miniatures on the internet. I know many people consider themselves regular Joe’s simply enjoying a hobby, but like it or not you are amongst the first of the great pioneers of this art form in the online community – Great because you offer your own unique expression and not just another army generic painting guide. Celebrate your wins, keep healthy and continue! Thanks 🙂
