Thats it!  They are done!

So…. project complete I guess, all bar the shouting.  I’m looking forward to using them in anger against my friends.  I’ve played a couple of games against my 11 year old son, and also one with my 9 year old joining in in a 3 way crazy battle where my halflings faced off against the 11 year old’s Albionnican (nee Imperial now it’s second edition, but I’m old school!) to catch a baby dragon.  The 9 year old was using the baby dragon, as well as Wotanwðdues who was hiding in a bit of terrain, outside the deployment zones, which  he wrote down at the start of the game in secret so we wouldn’t know if we got near him.  I can put pictures on here of that game if people want action shots?  But thats a different post.  This one is group shots, hugs and cheers all round… and a nice cup of tea to celebrate a job which I am really pleased with.  I hope you’ve all enjoyed following along.  Anyhoo, time for the money shots!

All thats left, unless people ask for AAR pictures of the games I’ve played, or people want to see the Albionnicans, is to say how much fun these characterful models were to paint, and how nice a game Arcworlde 2nd edition is.  It’s definitely one for the narrative gamer over the competitive gamer… don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome to win games, however it’s much better when everyone at the table is having a blast running through a story (My own opinion, others see things differently) and this game gives that in spades.  The feats function is a great mechanic.  If there isn’t a rule for doing something, basically you decide, with your opponent, just how hard it is to do that and what the effect will be, which gives you easy, medium, hard feats.  You then need to roll that many successes on dice, one per ap spent, to see if you succeed.  4 or 5 is a success, 6 is a crit and counts as 2 successes.  In our game last week, my son wanted his crossbow armed Albionnican to leap off a cliff onto the dragon, firing his crossbow as he went.  Incredibly heroic, and stupid… but mostly heroic.   He rolled 2 dice as we said it would be a hhard feat, it was really unlikely to happen successfuly and sure enough he failed, missed the shot, bounced off the dragons hide and landed prone in gfront of an angry forest dragon.  Could have been amazing, but was instead hilarious, all of had a good giggle at his ineptitude, especially as it was just in front of the Albionnican Captain and the dragon was going to be the next model to activate.

Sorry, rambling.  To summarise, its been a blast.  I highly recommend the game and the minis.  I suggest you all get over to the Warploque page and buy some (please note, I am in no way affiliated with Warploque!)

It’s great to see you cross the finishing line… I’m sure it will never really be over, especially when more reinforcements are produced. Great work.
