My goal for working with Kingdom Death Pinups is to de-pornify them where I can to make them as appropriate for battle as I can.  I want to use them in the game to fill gaps in my collection where they haven’t released models for every weapon and armour combination yet.  Painting and weapon swaps can only do so much,  but lets see what I can do.

First up is the Pinup Saviour.  She’s wearing feathers and carrying a staff so I have decided she is wearing Phoenix armour and is a club proficiency fighter.

Next is the Pinup Leather Queen.  She got a pinup reversal model in the White Gigalion Vignette set.  That means I’ve already got a leather armoured lady wielding a whip so I’m painting her to match my Hide armour scheme to fill that gap in my collection.

I’ve already painted the Pinup Rawhide Dame so it’s time to weapon swap and paint to look different.  It’s a basic swap this time, to make her a Hide wearing fist fighter.  I also put her lantern on a rock, and changed her colours so they should be visually distinct on the table together.

The Pinup Survivor actually comes with a variant head, so that’s a big help in making her look different to the one I painted a year ago.  I took a couple of hands holding katars from the white lion armour kit sprues and tried to reposition her arms as best as I could, but they wouldn’t move much without creating issues.  I did try to make a rude gesture, but that was the most organic way the parts would go together.  I like it though.

Finally, we have the Pinup Phoenix Dancer.  I’ve given her a whip.  I thought it’s flow would work well with her implied movement, but it turns out most of the whips on the sprues were coiled up, and the one that isn’t has a very fixed idea of the flow from the arm generating it’s movement (if that makes any sense to anyone).  I guess when sculpting a whip in movement you also need to pair a moving arm with it to have it properly flow.  I think she looks good enough though.  I tried changing some of her colours, while still sticking to my original Phoenix armour colour scheme.

I’ve still got the Pinup Gold Smoke Knight to finish, but I took a little time to build, prime, and do a little airbrushing on the next round of pinups.  I don’t want to build too many as the next round of KDM game plastics are due any day now.

Back row: Pinup Male Dung Beetle Dancer  and Pinup Dung Beetle Dance, both being used as fist fighters.  In my head it’s some sort of Capoeira style dancing martial art they’re doing.

Front row: Pinup White Speaker Kisya, Thumping Timpani Ledla, Pinup Dragon Sacrifice (Another dancing fist fighter), and Pinup Apotheosis being painted to be wearing Dragon armour, and a sceptre is a type of club, right?
