Interview - Chris Townley Talks Big Four Of Late War

With the release of Fortress Europe and D-Day Books Chris and the lead heads of Battlefront are planning to dedicate four whole years of their time creating army lists and traveling a similar journey with their customers.

Follow along the journey of the Big Four of Late-War

This will be like  a Tale of four Gamers that viewers may have seen in the past, however this is an epic journey spanning years of content. Commiting four years of army will consist of Victor fielding the American Army, Wayne who’s building the German army, Casey who’s well known in the office for Soviet Armies and Chris on the British forces.

As John is the resident British builder, he’ll to be judging with scrutiny what Chris will be building in his forces.

Are you willing to join a Four Year game plan?

Great project. Looking forward to seeing it play out over the next four years. Not sure if my group would actually be willing to make that kind of commitment.

Due to work and family, I can barely commit to anything in the next two weeks, much less four years. However, I’m so happy Battlefront is finally bringing the late war to version 4. Looking forward to seeing what they do, and I’ll be keeping an eye on the Big Four here.

I’ve not got the historical bug yet, but I have thought it could be fun to get some friends together and over a period of years work our way through the war, in terms of tech advancements. Get a timeline of when each advancement hit the front lines and when each item was withdrawn and move the time forward one week per game played and you can only use what was available on that date. It would require a fair bit of time and money, and a large commitment from a group of friends, so its not likely to happen… Read more »

There is so much WW2 history around Northern Ireland. Gosford Forrest Park (about 10 miles from me) was a PoW camp, and American Army base and was used to film Game of Thrones as well. Closer to home, I’m from the City of Armagh and on the 1st April, 1944 Patton inspected troops from the American Third Army on the Mall. The Mall is a public area in the middle of the city that used to be a race track surrounded by brothels and gin houses before an Archbishop tidied the place up. It is now used by the local… Read more »

Wow 4 years….staggering commitment. It’s testament to the game if it can draw that kind of longevity!

I´m also interested in the Japanese.
How about re-introducing the “intelligence briefings”? I remember those as army lists for a specific part of an faction, f. i. US 29th infantry division, covering all the units that were in this division, thus giving the army list a bit extra historical accuracy. It would also allow to combine units in lists that other lists, standard lists, do not.
