Just realised you can see my delightful mousemat in that photo; are you really supported if you don’t rest your wrist on a sexy frog butt? XD
A few hours of tidying and sorting between paints, tools and cable management but the desk is more than half done. I’m not rushing on it but I wanted this weekend to at least have enough set up to do some…[Read more]

I want to scrap the term “I go you go”. I find it confusing. It describes almost every system. I move/activate my whole army, then you do. I went, then you went. I moved 1 model, then you did. I went then […]

I think this applies to a lot of arts and crafts we do as a hobby.
It’s only a small percent of folk that get to be so good that they can post tutorial videos about their craft.
And a lot of tutorials really gloss over the very basics, because that stuff is rarely engaging enough for the clicks they need.Folk rarely if ever show what the…[Read more]

it feels like a total 180 compared to many other YouTube videos
Indeed. Perhaps this will signal a change in how some creators present their work, especially on YT. We certainly need a different direction as the clickbait chasing it getting a bit silly now and it is hard to find reasonable content by genuine hobbyists.
I know I couldn’t do it…

I always feel the best defense of “I go you go isn’t fundamentally broken” is Infinity.

Although I know that I don’t have to paint as well as the box art…
It can put me off buying the miniature if it’s expensive and I know it will look awful. I would really like the Morathi miniature by GW, but I know I couldn’t do it justice (and it was £80 last time I checked… so way above budget) and mistakes on a small mini are more…[Read more]

Don’t hold yourself to the box/promotional art. Done is better than trying to be perfect. Plus the videos are so relaxed and laid back that it feels like a total 180 compared to many other YouTube videos.

I think Gerry and Richard Clarke need to have a debate about movement. Rich is pretty much wedded to the D6 as well. It’s been easy enough to get percentile dice (the classic twenty-siders numbered 0 to 9 […]

Thanks for sharing these. I really enjoyed the approach and that so many different perspectives. It was fascinating to me that hobbyists across a broad range of interests and experience still come to broadly the same conclusions about techniques that helped.
A key point to realise is what works best for you. So knowing yourself is so much mo…[Read more]

WYSIWYG came in from tournament play from what I remember. It was always in rules packs, so your opponent didn’t get surprised by a unit’s loadout, over time it has become a way to force a larger model collection […]

SAGA, for example, proves the point though it’s such a bland dice it requires a second set of d6 and specific boards for each faction to make it work. I’m not saying it’s a bad thing I love the game, but the d6 is […]
