ell they are powerfull. how much they cost?
85 points for 5 guys. For comparison, the other basic troop type available are the Brotherhood Troopers who are 65 points. You can fully equip your troopers with swords and shields too, for no extra cost, although those are only IA 12 in the front arc and they aren’t quite so menacing once they reach close combat.
Extending the tactic in this video – if you are this close to Sacred Warriors and can shoot at them in their rear arc, I wonder if higher rate of fire is more important that strength? So, with a basic rifle that has strength 12 (which would reduce the Sacred Warriors armour by 2), aiming will further reduce their armour by another 2.. but is this one of those rare scenarios where you might want to use the “Rapid Fire” ranged attack instead which gives you an additional shot at the cost of -2 to your ranged skill and a 50% reduction in the weapon’s range?
Thus a five man squad with an LMG can each take a Rapid Fire action (2 AP) to collectively make 8 shots (Sacred Warrior armour would be 12) and 4 shots (Sacred Warrior armour would be 11) at ranged skill 12, or 12 and 5 if you are prepared to burn a resource card for each model to additionally increase their rate of fire. So.. best case scenario with 17 shots:
12 shots with a 60% chance to hit and a 60% chance to save (guesstimate is 3 wounds although anydice wouldn’t calculate more than 6d20), and 5 shots with a 60% chance to hit and a 55% chance to save. (1 wound)
Compared with Aiming (1 AP) and Shooting (1 AP), netting you 4 shots (Sacred Warrior armour would be 10) at ranged skill 16, and 3 shots (Sacred Warrior armour would be 9 on the first, and 11 on the other two), or if you were prepared to burn those resource cards, 8 shots (Sacred Warrior armour would be 10 on four, and 12 on the other four) and 4 shots (Sacred Warrior armour would be 9 on the first, and 11 on the other three). So, best case scenario with 12 shots:
4 shots with an 80% chance to hit and a 50% chance to save (2 wounds), 4 shots with a 70% chance to hit and a 60% chance to save (1 wound), 1 shot with an 80% chance to hit and a 45% chance to save (1 wound) and 3 shots with a 70% chance to hit and a 55% chance to save (1 wound)
So it seems like Justin’s tactic of aiming and shooting is – or should have been – slightly more favourable than standing his ground and blazing away with the Rapid Fire option. Interesting 🙂
