The Isorians Warp In For Warlord’s Gates Of Antares

Warlord Games have now shown off the new Isorian Skirmish Set for Beyond The Gates Of Antares. This is a sinister and deadly addition to the world of Antares from a shadowy corner of space...
"During the long period of isolation that followed the collapse of the Sixth Age many human settlements failed altogether. Advanced civilisations declined to barbarism. Only in a very few places was the light of knowledge carried onwards. One such place was Isori, with its long history of technical expertise and the unique resources of the Isorian system behind it.
Applying their vast technical skills the Isorians began to improve space drives and discovered ways to increase the endurance of spacecraft and their crews. The flexible nature of space-fabric had long been understood, and the Isorians used this knowledge to build ships capable of reaching near-light speeds previously thought impossible."
I really like the aesthetic of this new faction for the game and it reminds me of a beefed up version of the Combine from Half Life. The armour design and style is great and the helmets in particular are ace looking. The addition of some more awesome alien drones and such in the future would get a thumbs up from me.

The more I see of Antares the more I think I Should jump in!
Plastic Isorians when?!
@roguestar – The initial plan is to release 6 core plastic kits in the first year of Antares – one for all of the six factions outlined in the rulebook. These kits should contain core troops and ‘something tasty’ for each faction… However, depending upon how well Antares is received/adopted by the community, we may be able to cram-in more plastic releases… We do have a heap of additional releases – support teams, vehicles and other large models already mastered and being readied for release – with more than a year’s worth of releases already mastered, and more being produced… Read more »
To be honest that’s the first faction that really presses all my buttons. Well done.
Plastics would certainly push me into starting to collect a complete army rather than painting the odd figure..

The little drones are great! Also the alien plants/scenery is really nice as well.
I have always liked the biomechanical stylings of the Isorians in the artwork, and it transfers well to the models.
Oh man, love the Combine reference.
I’d be so tempted to get a soundboard of all those awful machine/modem noises they made for every time one of these guys ate dirt on the tabletop.
I’m sold on everything from BTGOA to be honest. When the big bad for the setting get released hopefully we will see a massive upswing in the games popularity. Bring on the Vorl!
I’m not sold on the weird organic drone things yet, but I love the look of the infantry. I’ll have to find the time to read my Antares rulebook that came with my starter set!
What exactly are these guys? They look cool. I am liking the look of this game, but in the current gaming and financial situation for myself, Im not sure I can afford something bigger than a skirmish game. I mean, is this platoon level along the lines of 40k or smaller?
Also is the platic multi-pose or mono-pose models?
Plastics for Ghar are multi-pose, Concord set is kind of multi-pose (you can achieve some variety and you get medium drone + two buddy drones on the same sprue). Antares scales up and down in size very well – you can play much smaller games than in 40k. I’d recommend starter set – great value.
Great, i,m not very fan of them. But I,m trying to get some of my BA mates into. The more factions the better. That will help the game.
They really do look alien. That is until you see the revealed face on that trooper. That was a good idea as it shows this alien like race that in truth are much more like us.
They are just humans wearing funky armour.
Love the organic/gribbly theme of these guys, the background for them is very cool!
Will most certainly be getting a set to paint up.
