Dive Into Narrative Board Gaming With Vampire: The Masquerade
October 15, 2025 by brennon
If you're looking for a new, narrative board game experience and you're also a fan of the World of Darkness roleplaying setting, you could well be on to a winner with Vampire: The Masquerade - Palermo Conspiracies, which is live on Gamefound right now.
Vampire: The Masquerade - Palermo Conspiracies // Teburu
When you dive into Palermo Conspiracies, you'll be venturing into a semi-cooperative game for one to four players set against the backdrop of the World of Darkness universe. Using the Teburu system (more on that later), you'll take on the role of Camarilla Archons who have been dispatched to Palermo to investigate the disappearance of the Prince of Palermo. Along the way, you'll be uncovering terrible secrets and punishing those who threaten the Masquerade as you dive into more and more stories.
How To Play // Vampire: The Masquerade - Palermo Conspiracies
Driven by the app and the Teburu system, you will dive into a board game investigation which blends together classic board gaming mechanics with modern technology. Follow leads and then use your skills to uncover clues, collect important resources and maybe even hunt down mortals so you can get your fill of vital blood!
As well as being an investigation, Palermo Conspiracies also challenges you to balance the rival factions vying for control of Palermo. As well as rival factions, the players themselves also find themselves at odds sometimes! You will have secret agendas and goals and so behind the scenes, secret votes could change the fate of the story, hopefully in your favour!

If this has intrigued you, the folks behind Palermo Conspiracies have already created a game set within the Vampire: The Masquerade world. You can also check out Milan Uprising if you'd like to see what the Teburu system has been used for before!
The Story // Vampire: The Masquerade
Working behind the scenes and helping to tell the narrative experience is the Teburu system itself. At the core of the system is the app, which allows you to learn as you play, feeding you the rules when required and getting you up to speed with the immersive story as you go.
Teburu System // Vampire: The Masquerade
The game also tracks where you are on the tabletop, thanks to the interactive board and the way the miniatures have been manufactured with specific bases. This means that it can surprise you like a classic Games Master in a role-playing game, throwing a bit of extra spice into proceedings. The game also makes use of smart dice, another feature of the Teburu System, which immediately reads your results and inputs them into the app without you having to lift a finger.
As a note, yes, the app is required for you to play the game. However, as you might have seen with both Palermo Conspiracies here, Milan Uprising and Sword & Sorcery, the experience is a neat, modern take on the storytelling experience at the tabletop. I've been using apps for games like Journeys in Middle-earth and Gloom/Frosthaven for a few years now and I don't mind them, especially since in these cases (and here) there's still plenty of "game" for you to be playing. This is, of course, a personal choice, though, so it'll be up to you what suits you.

There are a few expansion options and such included as part of the campaign, so if you're interested in seeing what else is on offer from these folks at Teburu, you can delve a little deeper and enrich Palermo Conspiracies with additional stories and maybe even Milan Uprising. Stretch Goals are also adding more to the main offering, which is neat.
If you're interested in checking out more from Teburu, then don't miss our Sword & Sorcery playthrough that we did for their last campaign...

Saw BoW demo a game of the previous teburu game… some sort of dungeon crawler. The system looks clunky and unreliable. Not for me.
The figures are looking brilliant for the game
The figures always ‘look’ great, that is what suckers people in to back KS’s. Wait for retail and see if the game is actually any good.
