I'm a big fan of Damnation: the Gothic Game, I liked the original and I love what Kris has done at Blackletter Games to bring it up to date for a new generation of gamers.

Damnation the gothic game board

Damnation: the Gothic Game // Blackletter Games

The game itself sees you playing the part of a restless soul damned to Hell and brought to Dracula's Castle every night to be hunted by the bloodsucker as a cruel punishment for your crimes, and his amusement. Despite being in the same boat as your fellow players it is not cooperative and comes down to the old adage that if you and your friends are being chased by a tiger you don't have to run faster than the tiger, just faster than your friends!

Damnation: The Gothic Game // Night of the Vampire

The Kickstarter campaign successfully funded the core game with upgrades to game components the addition of two new characters to play, the Occultist and Professor, and an expansion that replaces boring old Vlad with a much more deadly feral Nosferatu as the owner of the castle.

Kris hasn't just been resting on his laurels either, a playtest group was established with some of the backers and while the logistical side of things was being dealt with they have jumped back into the game and given it a final polish. If you saw our Let's Play then you'll still have a very good idea of how the game plays, but some things have been tweaked to make the game run faster, smoother, and more deadly!

The Vampire has seen the most changes so he becomes a greater threat and is less likely to be Benny Hilled around the board by his lunch. If you are interested in grabbing this cracking revamp of a Gothic Horror board game the Pledge Manager closes at midnight on October 10th so you've some time left to go and check it out before the sun rises and it vanishes in the dawn mist.

Late Pledge Manager

I absolutely adore this game, and while the prototype we have in the studio is nice I can't wait to get my hands on my copy, everything Kris has shown off has been top-notch as this real passion project comes closer to fruition. While he has a retailer pledge option it is hard to say how easy this will be to find after the Kickstarter is done, I would love to see it in retail in the long term but that may be tricky for a one man company to achieve so if you're interested in 8 player stabbery give this a go it's got to be worth the price of admission

Can you guess the inspiration behind the characters?
