I love Firefly and Serenity, but this just looks dull to me! Lots of down time, not a lot of interaction and lots of luck. Needs some more eloquent or interesting mechanics other than “draw card, roll dice, repeat”
Sadly I have to agree. The ‘move/draw card/roll dice’ mechanic does seem to slow down the game a lot and make it feel very random. Plus the Alliance & Reaver ships don’t appear to have much of an impact on the gameplay, maybe that’s just a product of only having two players.
The game seems to more in common with boring licenced boardgames like “The Walking Dead” rather than games which properly captured their source material like Spartacus or BSG.
Great looking game thanks for the preview it looked awesome. I hope you guys do a full game on video sometime. Sorry but BTW, Justin I think you forgot to pay that 600 for those 2 crew at 47:13, not that it really mattered.
i had fun and it was more to show the basics of the game working, there are little ways to make the game faster but i left those for when everyone reads the rule book. in fact here’s the link:

There is a lot going on in this game – and I sense that expansions are a possibility. And who doesn’t like to misbehave, occasionally 🙂
Great video, sometimes these modern board games can become just abstract mechanics with a thin veneer of the theme, but this works well and feels like the show.
NOTE: Check out around 35.20 – we see Justin’s head disappear ‘in the black…ground’
Great vid guys – a really enjoyable watch. Don’t know if this is out before the end of the month but it’s now added to my birthday list (along with DZC set!). I really hope so and know what I’m going to be watching tonight!

Ah, a couple of weeks and the game should be generally available. I was an official Demo Browncoat for Gale Force 9; the game is really good, some of the comments made here have at least partial validity… The Alliance Cruiser is a double-edged sword, it can be useful, or really be a wrench in the machinery of your schemes. The Reaver is just plain nasty….
