I don't know about you, but I learn a ton from board games. Being a bit obsessed with animals, nature and the world we reside in. Photosynthesis taught me more about biology than I ever did at school, and I can thank BioViva for teaching me a world of knowledge about our world when I was growing up.

But there is a new board game on Kickstarter right now, entitled Earth Rising. Giving 1-6 players a chance to mould our modern-day society into a sustainable world within the next 20 years.

Earth Rising // Stop, Drop & Roll Games

Earth Rising is a completely cooperative experience. Whether you attempted to save the world on your own, or go along with others, you will aspire to work to bring harmony and peace to the world we live in.

You and your cooperative compadres will be given a time span of 20 years to make a change within the world. Each player can take the role of a Climatologist, Ecologist, Activist, Grass Roots Politician, Innovator, or Eco Investor. And you will need to rectify and propel our planet into harmony, and most importantly - realistically.

Earth Rising // Stop, Drop & Roll Games

The board itself is a circle, which represents the Earth. And it has been designed with our eco-system in mind, to map out the six core factors of human society. Defining who we are and what changes need to be made in our civilisation for it to succeed.

Earth Rising // Stop, Drop & Roll Games

Using card-drafting mechanics, players will need to draw cards to transform the world around them by supporting practices. Unsustainable Practices will be the problems within our world and Sustainable Practices remove them. If the world is under too much Strain, the world will be pushed to its limits and the ecosystem will collapse.

As I said before, BioViva was a key reason why I am so clued up with the environment with strange facts, knowledge and trivia. The game is for 11+ and is designed not for learning - but genuinely for fun. It is a fantastic way to allow any children around you, to be conscious of the world around them.

Earth Rising // Stop, Drop & Roll Games

I understand that talking about climate crisis to any child may want to make their eyes roll to the back of their head, but the game boasts providing "hope" to its players and the opportunity to focus on solutions in the game as opposed to problems, and that they too are able to make a difference on our planet.

The Kickstarter has 23 days left, and although it has not met it's target just yet - I anticipate the nature-loving board gamers will love the idea of Earth Rising
