Another version of Lost Cities is on the way from Thames & Kosmos. The new game subtitled Rivals will see you delving into ancient cities in search of treasure but a few more mechanics take the challenge up a notch.

Lost Cities Rivals (Main)

The main difference between this and the previous iteration of the game is that there is now a bidding/auction mechanic in place as you try and fund your expeditions into strange far off lands. Here's what they had to say...

"Lost Cities: Rivals features gameplay familiar from other titles in the Lost Cities series. Players will collect coloured expedition cards and place them in ascending order in personal expeditions, possibly placing wager cards before beginning an expedition in order to increase its value. The primary difference in this title compared to others is that you must win auctions in order to place cards in your expeditions."

It will be fun to see if this game takes on a new life and replaces the old one in people's collections. The addition of this rivalry mechanics where you're vying for cards to add to your tableau seems like a cool new feature and it could make the game a bit more interesting!
