Have a great weekend!
The releases for WWX just keep getting better. This new enlighten one will have a really fun playstyle.
Great show. Was great seeing some US perspective on set with the ladies visiting. =)
Can’t wait to see what Warcraddle has planned for WWX, and I’m hoping the Classics range gets expanded. There are quite a few models that I wanted to get that I can’t find anymore.
Gnomes are garden guardians @warzan ?
Are you having problems with the new 3D printer @warzan
A great show Guy’s alone an into the dead are sounding good.
I am hoping someone can ask the guys at Warcradle if they would consider going to AdeptiCon or other miniature heavy conferences and provide organized play. IMHO, that would bring more people into the system.
Into The Dead had a great chance to bring people into the industry, but those price points are high and will only have the hard core gamers pledging. Thus, this is why they have yet to be funded. Given the two Alone is a better value from a known publisher.
@Ben — I hope you might consider a Rangers of Shadow Deep VLOG,
Never tried the WWX, but the minis look gorgeous.
Personally I think GW already have just barely crossed the line when it comes to over-saturating the market. It is difficult to follow it all and that is a bit of a turn off. They should slow little down and let more time between new releases so we can actually appreciate something better and for some time before they start hyping up a new game/box/etc
Im really glad that the commissar isn’t a big boob bikini girl and I am glad to see a move away from the 90’s image of Lara Croft in war-games. Not for any feminist reasons or anything like that, I still enjoy seeing big boob bikini girls in games when I deem it to be appropriate. just when its an infantry based game the guys and gals are all wearing the same kit and at 50 yards will look the same with some slightly noticeable differences namely proportions, just like different weapons etc. I enjoy the strive for equality if that is actually seeking equality (which in my opinion/experience feminism does not). I expect and want men and woman to be maimed equally in my war-games, and I love uniformity so for me that means men and women wearing the same kit in the same role getting killed just the same way. Now, redo the Imperial Guard range and put a 50:50 mix of men and women in it, for in the grim dark, there are no blue or pink jobs, only war….
As a side note, if you look closely at the Star Wars Legion range you will find a close to 50:50 balance of men and women in the same units, except for stormtrooper squads, they appear to be entirely made up of females beneath the armour :p
That plastic wizard kit looks amazing, you could probably do the whole band from Roy Woods onwards…
(Thanks Wikipedia for the assist)
Happy weekender. No 500 errors here, no sirree!
Like the look of a lot of GWs stuff, but like @warzan am getting feelings of “product fatigue” – I’m actually kinda annoyed by it. Was just getting round to getting into the new Kill Team stuff – which came out as a box in July last year, and is now no longer available anywhere – even looks to be delisted from from their own store! This is not the only time it’s happened in the recent past, and, although a “limited run” culture possible helps them shift boxes quicker, all that seems to happen is it fills eBay up with sealed product at grossly inflated prices. Good for GW, but notsomuch for customers. Sure, you can go buy a rulebook, and a squad, but when your “Core game” isn’t available (and it was thin on the ground from near launch) then it makes me unwilling to buy expansions. The same with anything “limited” being out of stock to scalpers within moments of release. Thankfully they did a second run of the Noise Marine, but there’s loads I’ve missed because –
1. I can’t go to a Warhammer store most weekends because I work. Hence I’ll never get specific miniatures.
2. I can’t afford to keep up to date 24/7 – if I miss an announce on a given day, I should still be able to catch up and preorder an item within 2-4 weeks of announce. Not same/next day. (I quite fancied those BL coasters they did this weekend, but I was working and knew nothing of them until I got home and turned on my PC.)
3. I might have another hobby focus at that point. “I’ll pick it up next month” you tell yourself. But then you can’t, so you miss it, and the sheer volume of content comes after, that even picking it up is a terrifying hill to climb, so you don’t and just wait for the next edition or find another outlet for your hobby love. (Seriously – there’s sooo much text coming outta the studio right now, it’s baffling, and I used to play WFB 3rd Ed.)
But yeah “Limited edition” stuff can go bile it’s heid, unless you have an LE version of a model that is “stock”. Tabletop games aren’t like video games and shouldn’t be ran on that sales model. They always have digital downloads to back up low inventory standard editions – we don’t have that with shiny shiny plastic dudes. (well, not quite yet)
Think the Frostgrave Wiz-ards look cool, and I really must get WWE a proper go soon. Promise.
Great show! The Hour of the wolf starter set looks great!
So this is a cool price, ’cause i haven’t played WWX yet
got to love a wolf posse
Finally finished the show (i overslept this morning lol)!
I have personally steeped away from GW a bit to explore the other games and systems out there but GW deserve massive props for finally getting some decent modern female sculpts into the GW ranges. Normally I’m anti ret-con like Jerry (SQUAT RAGE!) but if it makes the 40k universe more male / female balanced I’ll give them a pass.
Those WWX wolf guys are amazing. I am really impressed by quality of sculpts that are put out for WWX. I do like that female commissar. It’s also different from what we usually get when it comes to female commissar miniatures. There is always place fore different looking versions of same thing because different people want different things when it comes to miniatures so there is no one correct style.
Really liked the Warcradle part of the show. It’s always good to see the alternatives to the more established games.
Good show guys, No issue with the female commissar from my perspective. Nice model. Never been a modern war fan, but I may have to give John’s Oil War a view as I always like his project VLOGs.
The KM Batboxes are a great move for BMG as they allow you to pick up a complete crew at a discount. It is not a two player starter set, with every token you need to play and so on, but it does allow you to pick the faction you like and get playing with less guess work of what will work well.
The lack of a heroes box so far is much commented on but will probably appear at some point. It doesn’t make the game any less playable however as most games are actually villain vs villain anyway.
So pleased with what Warcradle are doing with the Dystopian Age and WWX in general. Damn i want that Hour of the Wolf!!!
I found the commissar figure odd in that she carries her sword on the same side as the scabbard. Odd way to draw it, not impossible but still impractical.
Wizard sprue is totally male, just saying.
Another excellent show. Like the warning on kickstarter and hope that you will expand coverage of Bring back the old weekly update.
Not too shabby 🙂
Happy Weekend – looking forward to following John’s Oil War Hobby VLOG series
A great show.. really interested in Alone 2.
