Wizards Of The Coast recently held their The Descent weekend of events which was all focused on exploring the new storyline for Dungeons & Dragons. Baldur's Gate: Descent Into Avernus sees you exploring this shadowy city and delving into the first layer of the Nine Hells.

Baldurs Gate Descent Into Avernus - Wizards Of The Coast

This new supplement for the game is for players running from level one through to level thirteen although it could also be included as part of your home games too with a bit of tweaking. You will explore Baldur's Gate in more detail, one of the most iconic locations in the D&D world, and learn of its history and heroes.

As well as charting your adventures against demons and devils during the unfolding Blood War you'll also be introduced to new mechanics like the introduction of infernal war machines and of course plenty of infernal treasures. Will your heroes risk their souls in order to claim them for their own?

Devil's Trinkets

To go along with the release of the book the team have also put together a set of accessories for Dungeon Masters and eager adventuring Players.

This pack comes with a set of polyhedral dice, a dice tray which also works as a way of transporting all of the goodies, encounter cards/tables, story content for the Blood War and a fold-out map too. It seems like a pretty awesome way to deeper immerse yourself within the new storyline and get your players invested in this quest.

D&D Essentials Kit

As well as the new options for Descent Into Avernus, Wizards Of The Coast has also designed a new Starter Set for those looking to dive into Dungeons & Dragons for the first time.

D&D Essentials Kit - Wizards Of The Coast

The new box, Essentials,  comes with everything you need to run a game of D&D. As well as including an adventure for a party of up to five adventurers you'll also find rules for playing one-on-one games too, perfect for parents or just friends/partners/families who don't have a large circle of nerdy friends.

Maps, pre-generated characters, encounter cards, rules, a Dungeon Master's Screen and much more is included within the box.

Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!

If you prefer your adventures a little zanier then you could also look out for the new Rick & Morty D&D Set which is coming soon too!

DD-Rick-Morty-Wizards-Of-The-Coast

Taking cues from the very well received comic book series which ran throughout last year, this set will get you stuck into D&D from the perspective of Rick, Morty and the rest of the family. I'm sure this is going to be a little more 'adult' than other entry points into the game!

It's very cool to see lots of pop culture avenues into D&D popping up with this and Stranger Things all making it a little easier to convince people to give role-playing a try.

Will you be snapping up any of these new sets?
