Build Your Own Masterful Castle With Dwarven Forge

Dwarven Forge have been powering through their latest Kickstarter that will allow you to build a massive Castle for use in your Fantasy and Historical games. This is a massive kit already with plenty of design options already...
Rather than show you the different pledge levels and their contents I thought I'd take some of the images that Dwarven Forge have put together and show you the kinds of awesome buildings you can create using their kits.
You can very easily start with a Gatehouse then move on to Walls, Watchtowers, full on Castles, a Citadel and then a Grand Citadel once you've collected all of the various blocks and sets that they offer.
The sets, as with most of the Dwarven Forge range, will either come in Dungeon Grey allowing you to paint them yourselves or fully painted. The second option means you basically get a big building block kit to simply pop together.
Of course you don't need to use the blocks to build a proper castle when you could also do something like this above. Big towers are great for Wizards to live in of course and could provide you with a dominating and iconic piece to have in the centre of your table. Also, a great alternative dungeon to fight through.
I'd love to see this set being used in Historical games to create a massive city that you could fight through as part of a siege. With the fact that the blocks are stackable and therefore can be taken apart you could, over time, show the degradation of the city as it falls to the attackers.

The purchase options are not consistent with the pictures being advertised, which I think is really annoying. Looking at the castle option and the citadel option (the two largest), you could not use these to build the picture they specifically advertise (the four listed on this site for example, or the main double tower with guard gate between).
This kickstarter is looking great, and I know the quality is going to be top notch. I think the biggest problem is coming out with the cash for everything I want lol. Probably going to just do a tower with some add-ons which will go nicely with my City pieces. The KS is not cheap, but between the modular and the resilience of the pieces .. I’m a big fan.
Looks great, but the asking price (and seeing what I’d need to buy extra to really make a castle) is prohibitive for me.
Too rich for my blood. I can get two sheets of polystyrene for $40, and build a table full of castle.
This Friday £37,000,000 ok, Saturday everybody I like gets a massive castle, an harley, really big FW titan and I organise 2 weeks wargaming for all someplace incredible, deal, so now just got to win LOL.
Looks great but it’s very expensive for what you need for a castle, plus most of the pledges do not have crenelations?!?

Too costly for me to buy. I’d need to get a mortgage on it. Is there a rental option? Can I book 2 weeks in it over the summer maybe?
If anything there are too many castles on the market. They really aren’t that useful for wargaming. I own a huge amount of hirst arts walls, I also own like six sets of the old citadel plastic castles, and have only used that stuff maybe half a dozen times in 20 years. There is an endless need for more interesting and affordable medieval/fantasy inns, houses, churches, ruins, etc. to add to one’s collection … but more standard castles … *yawn* ….
