Supported by (Turn Off)

The fight begins as we take Fantasy Flight Games' Star Wars: X-Wing into the atmosphere and through the tight confines of the forest moon of Endor. We're taking the board we created and rules we designed and will be playing out a dogfight between Imperial forces and the Rebels as they try to scour the Empire from the moon once and for all.

Come and join us for the Live Blog today as we take you through what's happening turn by turn. Follow along and drop some comments as to what kind of tactics we should employ...

Scenario Rules (Work In Progress)

If your a BACKSTAGE MEMBER and  want a bit more detail about the scenario we are playing Download The Scenario Rules. Note these are still a work in progress and have changed a bit even today! A full updated download will be available for everyone in the near future.

Have the pleasure of watching this from my sickbed at home today.

Love the exploding crits mod for the turbo lasers, it has that ‘laser burn through’ feel to it that I’m loving in Drop Fleet Commander 🙂

Do you think you guys could upload a top down pic of the gaming table, and even throw a few numbers on it so we can reference areas.

I’m wondering if the grey squadron y wing bombers can take the outside edge to sweep past the turbo laser unaffected and try to hit the base from behind.

But…

1. They may not be fast enough
2. The way turbo lasers range in this scenario is really cool in that by trying to stay away you are actually in more danger
3. Could the turbo lasers blast through the tree cover?

🙂

Is it possible for the live blogs to put the first item/post at the top of the scroll instead of the bottom?

warzan

While the live blog is active the most recent entry is at the top to reduce the need to scroll.

As soon as the blogging is over it automatically switches round and the first post is at the top and so on 🙂

Thanks guys for sharing us with this turn by turn, it’s awesome to watch and i’m biting my nails from the tension to see who this all will turn out in the end.

Great entertainment for my evening so far 🙂

This looks like hella fun. Just watched turn 2 movement, and wondering if, startegically, he should have slow rolled the Y-Wings a bit more to give the X-Wings and Y-Wings a chance to clear out the turbolasers. On the flipside: no guts, no glory, so I very well could be wrong.

I’ve spent the day pondering the same thing lol

I think giving the turbo lasers a minimum range was a brilliant choice as it really makes you think about getting in close quickly to avoid the fire power if you can 🙂

Oh yeah, it was a great choice, since it forces tactical decisions on both players as to how to deal with it. I play competitive X-Wing in the US, so I’m usually very much “these are the rules, that’s how you play” (I’m not an a$$ about it with new players, or in casual games, in those cases I explain how it’s supposed to be done), but god, they both look like they’re having so much fun, it’s infectious. Also, Proton Rockets on those A-Wings would clear out those turbolasers quick. PS: I hope you don’t mind, I linked to… Read more »

Just got to the end, and guys, it’s fantastic. one idea I had was maybe using the Epic ship template and dial for the AT-ATs, since I never saw them turn.

Why is there an X-wing hidden in trees between the generator and the turbo laser? 😉

I guess you’re on a good way with the balancing, this looked like a really really close game.

What i loved was the minimum-range für the Turbolasers and the AT-ATs, that added a lot to the game and forced the rebels to act a bit more aggresive, and forced the Imperials to think carefully how to maneuver the AT-ATs.

Another thing i liked was that you didn’t use the cards for critical hits, with so much going on on the board that could’ve really slowed it down a lot.

Nice one chaps. The close-range block on the turrets and the limited relevance of crits both made a lot of sense.
We tend to like scenario based X-Wing so we enjoyed yours. Much more fun than just a duel.

great game guys you should change sides and have a rerun?

lol we’d have to find another 8 hours in which to do a live blog. There may be X-Wing battles in the future where Lloyd and I swap sides who knows.

Great battle, i really enjoyed that. i did wonder if you shouldn’t move the shield generator further back or bring the second row of turrets forward as they didn’t seem to do a lot.

How about inverting the damage for the advanced torpedoes? Kinda the opposite of the towers, to make them super effective at short range, but giving the the option to use at very long range (5).

Great looking game. I am going to be running a similar game next week that is inspired by this but with some other house rules. I will try to take some pics to show you.

Great game guys, a nice spin on X-wing. Could you please also do a thread with links on the terrain you used?

What a nail biter. I have only played x-wing twice up to this point. I thought the entire time that the Imperials had too many resources, but Kilian did a great job of playing to the scenario and avoided getting bogged down in dogfights. I love the format, please do more in the future.

What a great battle report. Had a blast watching. Maybe needs a few tweaks to the scenario, those range 5 torpedoes felt weird, but it didn’t took anything away from the game. Awesome ending.

Only thing I would change is to film more dice rolling, not everything, but the important bits. To see the reactions life is just too good. And it’s kinda anti climactic when Killian starts the recap of the shooting phase with “yeah I lost Hobbie”.
