World of Darkness Goes Online

As you guys may or may not know White Wolf, the company behind the popular World of Darkness rpg games (Vampire the Masquerade etc.) have teamed up with CCP Games to work on a new World of Darkness MMORPG.
The game is stated to focus thoroughly around power and politics. Definitely no Twilight crap.
For the moment the game is set to focus on the Vampires, although further races from the World of Darkness will be added later on.
One thing which really intrigues me is that it has been suggested that players will be able to become Princes of locations, with the support of other players, and will be able to call blood hunts on players within their domains.
Having just got into Vampire the Masquerade I am really excited by this and will be watching its progress eagerly, although at the moment CCP Games seem to be more concerned with getting more employees.
Are any of you interested in a World of Darkness MMORPG? How do you think it will fair?
Wow! I’ll be honest, I genuinely expected this to have been shelved considering the lack of news about it. Shame to see it’s NWoD, I know it would have never happened, but I was secretly hoping it would be OWoD instead.

I have wanted a VtM mmorpg ever since the buggy but wonderful single player crpg VtM:Bloodlines, so this is great news. Even better since CCP is behind it.
Bloodlines buggy ? i think you are thanking aobut the Redemption ( which was very traumatic, and not in a enjoyable way -.- )

Incidentally, I recently bought Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines on steam but I can’t get it to work. Its the only game I’ve got off steam which wont and I can’t work it out. Any one have any ideas?

What OS are you using ? The game is old so you might need to put it in XP mode. If you use or have Ubuntu/Linux try with wine or Playonlinux and install Steam there , them download it from steam. You probably get some info from here :

Could be some info on the Steam forum for the game too, saw a fair few threads about people having trouble on there a few months or so ago when I’d reinstalled it.
Its probably because you’re running on a 64-bit computer on a newer OS. That being said, hope is not lost. Luckily for owners of this game some guy has been releasing unofficial patches for the game and STILL IS working on them after such a long time. He’s been posting links to these patches on the Steam Forums for Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines and a direct link to his latest topic is here…

If after installing his patch it continues to not work then just keep investigating in the Steam Forums, maybe someone has a fix for it.
WoD as MMO? That might be intresting to see being complited.

I really enjoyed playing this game in Fantasy grounds and if it is well thought out it will be fun. It has however some very serious flaws to overcome.Unlike most MMO’s the approach will have to be more brain and less brawn for it to really work and I fear that area princes (Guilds and leaders basically) creating turf wars (guild wars) will make for such a bad atmosphere that the masquerade would be over in seconds flat. Making it mainly PvE with PvP as a side game to me makes more sense. I think they need to think outside… Read more »
