Crimson Alizar Diorama by nightrunner

We start with this with a project that has been catching my eye for a while. nightrunner has been beavering away on a new diorama for a while now and it has finally been finished. Move over Red Sonja and instead check out Crimson Alizar battling her way through a sweltering jungle!

Crimson Alizar Diorama #2 by nightrunner

The miniature for Crimson Alizar looks great and the painting is top-notch. I was particularly taken by the depth of the red hair and how it works so well with the pale skin. The darker armour and cloak also help to sell the dynamic nature of the miniature. As someone who has been reading the most recent run of Conan comics, it's good to see a character like "Alizar" kicking ass and taking names.

Crimson Alizar Diorama #3 by nightrunner

nightrunner has done a fantastic job on the diorama base for the miniature to sit on as well. This is a mix of bits and pieces from different places alongside the creepy bugs from Reaper Miniatures. The extra work that has gone into "dressing the set" is brilliant and helps to sell the story of this adventure for Alizar.

Crimson Alizar Diorama #1 by nightrunner

The idea here was to tell a story and bring to life a great Pulp Fantasy scene. I think nightrunner has managed to achieve that and in such a small space as well. I always see nightrunner's dioramas and would love to try something like it myself but I just need to pull the trigger! I think the final look is brilliant and it got me excited to dive back into painting up my own miniatures with a barbarian twist.

Bones Adventurers by 144artist

Next up, we're checking out the work by 144artist who has been powering through their backlog of miniatures from the Reaper Bones Kickstarters. They recently painted up a bunch of miniatures that are going to be used in Forbidden Psalm.

Bones Adventurers #1 by 144artist

The Reaper Bones collection is packed with loads of miniatures that you could use as characters in narrative games like Forbidden Psalm. Sure enough, 144artist found some and has been painting up a bunch of grim, Dark Fantasy figures that would suit including this awesome warrior in full plate armour above.

Bones Adventurers #2 by 144artist

144artist has a great style that suits the themes and vibe of Forbidden Psalm. The darker palette and the use of plenty of weathering and shading on the bases and the shading for the miniatures work really well, and you get an almost artistic vibe from the finished products.

Bones Adventurers #3 by 144artist

This is by no means all of the miniatures that 144artist has been painting up from their Reaper Bones collection but this gives you a good idea of how quickly 144artist has been powering through this mound of plastic.

Skeleton Painting Tips by lovecraft2020

Last but not least, lovecraft2020 has been painting away on some undead miniatures for their Old World army and decided to put together a good breakdown of their painting process when it comes to painting skeletons.

Skeletons #1 by lovecraft2020

This is a quick technique but one that works exceptionally well and produces a solid finish at the end of it. The shields were left off so they could get painted later and the basis for the scheme is a standard white. From there, plenty of weathering gets used to properly level up the skeletons and give them that grungy feel.

Skeletons #2 by lovecraft2020

The basing is also awesome for these miniatures and gives off a great look of a ruined kingdom now dominated by the undead. I like the splash of red on their clothing to help break up all the bone and rusted metal. I also really like the rusty way that the metal came out!

Skeletons #3 by lovecraft2020

As someone who has already got my hands on some of these exact skeletons to paint up for my own games, I might end up using some of these ideas to bring my collection to life. A good way to spur myself on to try something new!
