Community Spotlight: Dreaded Judges, The Fragged Universe & Space Wolves!
April 9, 2025 by brennon
Come and join us for another delve into the Projects to find the best of the best from the last week or so. We'll be getting stuck into lots of great-looking miniature wargaming painting and hobbying this week...
...always let us know what YOU have been working on and share it across the site.
Judge Dredd by PIGM00
We kick things off this week with a look at someone showing off their Judge Dredd miniatures before diving in and adding more to this throughout the Spring Clean Hobby Challenge. The backlog needs to be battled, but there are already some great miniatures in their collection that show off how the new ones will look.
I really like PIGM00's work on these miniatures, especially all of the colourful painting on the Judges above. I think there's something pretty awesome about the bright, poppy colours of the comic book world of Dredd and I think it's levelled up again with the addition of those awesome bases.
The range of Dredd factions really does end up giving you lots of options when it comes to painting. Are you fed up of painting goons with guns? Start painting up some cultists and their weird, summoned companions. It's a great collection and it's tempting me to dive into the range.
The hope is that the project will be finished by June and at the moment, they are working on producing a bunch of appropriate bases for a variety of miniatures in the collection. It looks like we're getting some cool streets to battle on and it will be great to see the entire collection finished off by the end of the challenge.
Fragged Universe by elysium64
Next up, we're heading to the expansive Fragged universe and what elysium64 has been working on. They watched the Weekender not long ago and decided to dig out their old Fragged miniatures so they can give the new miniatures game, Double Tap, a go.
Luckily, it seems like the miniatures that they had in the collection could be made into a bunch of warbands for use in Double Tap. The miniatures split down into The Mechanids, the Heroes and a Rival crew that are going to be getting stuck into some scuffles.
I really like the work on these miniatures and whilst they need a tiny bit of cleaning up, it's great to see the miniatures range. elysium64 has also been planning on building a tabletop to play some games on whilst also using a bit of time to revisit the setting and dive deeper into the lore.
It's great to see the miniatures coming together like this and I think it's ace that they actually made warbands for use in Double Tap! The photographs are nice too, showing off the miniatures in situ and also how nice clear bases can be.
Space Wolves by dawfydd
Last but not least, we have a look at what dawfydd is doing, delving back into their collection of Space Wolves (very apt) for use in Warhammer 40,000.
They have been putting together their collection of older miniatures and working out what they have in terms of points for diving back into Warhammer 40,000. Whilst only a portion of the miniatures from their collection were actually painted, what we are seeing here is excellent and is really getting me fired up to start painting some of my own Space Wolves.
I really like the classic look of the Space Wolves in their Firstborn style. There were so many bits and pieces which could be used to personalise your Space Wolves and make them all feel like heroes in their own right. Gerry will also be very happy with the fact that the miniatures are painted with that lovely, classic blue.
Some great Space Wolves Scouts also made the cut and I think they look brilliant with their big, muscle-bound vibes! I know a lot of people don't like the proportions of the old Scouts but I think they looked ace and stuck with the over-the-top vibe of Warhammer 40,000.
