Kitbashed Turnip28 by denzien

We start off this week looking at some work by denzien, who has been playing around with converting and kitbashing an army for use in the awesomely weird game of Turnip28.

Turnip 28 #1 by denzien

The majority of the basic troops for this Turnip28 has have now been completed and they are looking fantastic. As pointed out by denzien, Turnip28 gives you a lot of creative freedom when it comes to building your miniatures and you can see how much fun they have had here with the different troops and characters that are battling through the mud and vegetation.

Turnip 28 #2 by denzien

A lot of the miniatures for this particular army were made using the 3D printable bits that you can get from the sculptors behind the Turnip28 range. You can see that in all of the gribbly bits that you notice on the backs of the various troops and those iconic droopy helmets that continue the turnip theme.

Where the project really shines through is when other miniatures like American War Of Independence troops and pirate cannons came into play. You can see these popping up amongst some of the more elite elements of the army and the artillery piece that dominates the force.

Turnip 28 #3 by denzien

I think this is a brilliant starting point for those wanting to dive into Turnip28 and shows what you can do with the 3D printable parts as well as those that you've kitbashed and converted yourself. I think the leader figure was particularly awesome, especially with the carrot smacked right onto his shield.

John Blanche Chaos Warriors by guillotine

Next up, we're having a look at what community member guillotine has been getting up to. They recently got their hands on some of the John Blanche paints and decided to test them on some fitting miniatures in the form of some classic Chaos Warriors.

Blanchitsu Chaos Warrior #1 by guillotine

Apart from silver, all of the colours used when painting these miniatures have come from the two John Blanche paint sets. I think it immediately starts to make you think about colour choice and where you want to take the figure. It also really delivers on that grimdark Old World vibe simply by virtue of the colour choices.

Blanchitsu Chaos Warrior #2 by guillotine

guillotine tested out three different schemes on these miniatures and was looking for some feedback from the community on which ones folks liked the best. I think the first Chaos Warrior that we've featured here is that one that draws my eye the most, with the dark, rusty red creeping up the shield.

Blanchitsu Chaos Warrior #3 by guillotine

I do quite like the fellow above though, with that yellowy/green staining that you get on the shield. It creates an interesting and different look for the Chaos Warriors that positions the Chaos Warrior amongst the Chaos Pantheon and Nurgle, I think. See more here and loads from the Warhammer collection they have been working on and share your views.

St. Tuomas by scarhandpainting

Last but not least, let's take a look at the work of scarhandpainting who has been doing something entirely off the wall. They were tasked with painting up something really weird for Trench Crusade and that's what we've got here with St. Tuomas.

St Tuomas #2 by scarhandpainting

This train has been designed to slot into an Armoured Train scenario that you can play in Trench Crusade. It contains the "tank engine" alongside a set of wagons that can then be set on a trainyard. The vibe is that St.Tuomas is some patron saint of explosives and so whenever this rolls into town, it radiants bullets and explosive ordnance in order to destroy the enemy.

St Tuomas #1 by scarhandpainting

When it comes to weird stuff for Trench Crusade, I think this might be right up there with some of the best. I think the idea is particularly fascinating in its own right but the execution of the terrain piece is also fantastic and really fits in with the wild and off the wall vibes that you get from Trench Crusade.

St Tuomas #3 by scarhandpainting

The entire set was digitally kitbashed using a German armoured train alongside bits from a Panzer III turret before being twisted into what you see here. I think the island of Sodor has gone downhill since we last visited it. I suppose that's what you get with privatised rail services.
