Space Hulk Restoration by chrisz

We start off this week with a look at what chrisz has been doing when it comes to the restoration of a very old copy of Space Hulk. The focus of this project is to bring this 1989 version back to life, refurbishing their miniatures and also adding in a range of 3D printable floor sections, levelling up the game.

Classic Space Hulk #1 by chrisz

This version of the game has seen better days as you can see. A lot of the Genestealer seem to be in good nick but a bunch of the Terminators look like they have seen better days. Have no fear though as chrisz has started work on cleaning them all up and getting them ready for a new lick of paint. It as been fascinating seeing the older miniatures and what they looked like back then.

Classic Space Hulk #2 by chrisz

The nostalgia is certainly on show with these miniatures and I think it's great seeing the process that chrisz is going through. I really like the way that the terrain has been coming along (see below) where a bunch of 3D printable tiles are coming together to help build up the various scenarios from Space Hulk.

Classic Space Hulk #3 by chrisz

The scale looks spot on and I think the larger walls offer up a really good feeling of claustrophobia. That works perfectly with the vibe of Space Hulk. chrisz has also been working out some good ways for you to store the terrain and the miniatures as the Space Hulk box has taken a bit of a battering. It is worth following this project to see how it shakes out!

Sludge by lonkelo

Next up, we're diving into the work by lonkelo who was going to be getting rid of all of their miniatures from the Warlord Games Epic range which popped up in issues of Wargames Illustrated. However, they then remembered that Sludge exists and so they have been using these miniatures to create armies for Sludge on a smaller scale. Think of it as Turnip13.5.

Small Sludge #1 by lonkelo

The collection of sprues and a few other bits and pieces has meant that lonkelo has been able to craft some really nice smaller-scale armies for use in Sludge. Whilst you won't be seeing loads of potatoes and turnips on show here, this works really well when it comes to creating a quick Sludge army!

Small Sludge #2 by lonkelo

The grim and dirty painting style here works exceptionally well and when they are all ranked up on those round bases, you get a great sense of scale for games of Sludge. lonkelo is looking to build two armies from this collection and also work on doing a bit of terrain as well which is neat.

Small Sludge #3 by lonkelo

Mixing together a bunch of kits from the American Civil War, Napoleonic period, English Civil War and a few Medieval Knights this works very well. Sludge can be played at a variety of different scales so you can easily get away with this and it's a solid use of miniatures that were going to be tossed to the side!

Going Nuts About Tanks by bobcockayne

Last but not least, we're diving into what bobcockayne has been doing. They have been playing a bit of everything from World War II and the most recent posts have been showing off a bunch of the tanks they have been getting ready for Achtung! Panzer.

World War 2 Tanks #1 by bobcockayne

As well as coming out with some great painting on these, especially to give you a solid winter vibe, bobcockayne has also been working on some of their own house rules for use in Achtung! Panzer. I am a big fan of folks house ruling stuff and coming up with fun ideas to expand their games and give them new life.

World War 2 Tanks #3 by bobcockayne

If you're any kind of fan of World War II then I would make sure to go and check out what bobcockayne has been working on. There are some really great photos in here and plenty of good discussion on World War II wargaming across a variety of different games like Nuts. You'll also get a good dose of Historical knowledge from delving into the research that bobcockayne has been doing.
