Happy Sunday Backstagers, CoGs and OTTers!
I think the number of skirmnish games out there means we are spoiled for choice with many of them bringing something unique to the table. I love SAGA, but I also like Sheild Wall by Warlord, Clash of Spears, Gangs of Rome, Test of Honour, Warhammer Skirmish, Warcry and KoW Champions. They are all ‘sword and board’ (and so Dark Age action is easily adapted if not already there), and all give us something different.
Is Ben a massive Elon Musk fan or is he he being sponsored by twitter as he seems to be promoting their AI system a lot in the shows recently
Musk can get in the bin
That Robin Hood RPG is just going to ehd up as Robin Hood as seen in Time Bandits
Probably…
Those missing characters for Lotr, they didn’t forget them and put them in a pdf. That is because they are no longer officially supported and you can also find some army lists in the pdf. I always cringe when I see people talking about what is a better rule system. Personnel preferences a side from a person. It is better to look at what a system offers and in what way and then decide if that is a system you would like. I would rather search for how a system works and then decide for myself then look for comparisons… Read more »
Aye but still weird a few cases were shoved in the PDF – like Balin etc when Durin is there.
Pendragon was never a percentile based system, it used D20s from the start. Greg Stafford had decided that using 5% intervals didn’t make a lot of difference from BRP.
I found free RPG Day a bit of a damp scwib this year. It coincided with the my local town’s Geek on event. So I went around the gaming shops and nothing except ironically GW who were giving away free models.
Set to play more games again. Hobbying is my favourite part of wargaming, but considering what is the best game is more interesting to me now. Comparing games is hard given the examples you raised. I don’t like crunchy rules most of the time, but one or two games have been so lore and crunch light that I couldn’t get inspired enough to dig into the hobby prep for the game that easily. I will be playing Saga Monday night for the first time in years. Irish versus Vikings. So Monday night Saga will be the best game. But deep… Read more »
Happy Sunday and for Friday weekender , keep forgetting about that.
Happy Sunday.
We’ve gone back to Werewolf The Apocalypse recently but playing with the Dark Ages supplement. The GM is now convinced the rules are too dated as it took us a whole evening for us to raid a castle and kill all of the bad guys. Lots of dice rolls.
that sounds like a GM problem though if he’s making you fight out inconsequential fights rather than letting you speed your way through mooks
Ent-Sluts! 🤣
what? oh sorry not PC…Ent Wives
Should they all be so prickly?
i had a hobby itch for something GW (first time in years) and got the core necromunda rulebook. Then realised is till needed the gang books to play and the dice. I’ve been comparing xenos rampant with five parsecs tactics for an alternative rule systems for starwars. I think they both struggle to cover all bases when it comes to adding flavour to rules to represent certain units so a bit of home brewing helps
A great subject to ponder as far as “best” game. Ben pretty much hits it home as far as finding the one that ticks your boxes being best.
A great time for this week’s BBD coverage. The dinging was well won with all three projects. Congrats to the winners and I look forward to more.
Happy S… Monday!
Yes I slept through the whole day of Sunday.
Services will return to normal.
Ben, late ot the discussion but I strongly recommend the INfinity CR plus with a 0.4 and 0.2 needle
Amazing bit of kit you will never need to buy another
