I finally got my app off the computer and onto a tablet. Seeing it interacting with the tabletop hardware over bluetooth was pretty exciting. Sorry about the video quality – it was late, my studio isn’t very well lit and the tablet far too bright for my phone camera! https://www.beastsofwar.com/project-entry/1304896/
Hey guys, I got my minotaur project finished π

Where is the cake?!
@brushstroke, well done mate.
I’ve started a new painting project https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1302539/#snav
gonna give the other one a rest for a bit. need to paint something different for a bit.
thanks… yeah, I get like that too. Have to chop and change between things or I start to get bored with things and I just cant motivate myself to keep going. Large army painting gets like that for me.
That’s why I thought I’d give a dio a try. Turns out I really enjoyed it, so I think I’ll be doing more in the future π
Holy hell, two projects right off the top! Thanks very much!
Thanks very much @lancorz and @brennon !
Yeah, work is progressing on the Darkstar rule book. It’s going to be full complexity, just not full scope. It won’t include a lot of the “auxiliary” or”peripheral” activities that players can do … AT LEAST AT FIRST. But the base game will be presented IN FULL. You can’t really clip any elements out of it, it’s too tightly wired together.
If this first book goes well, there are always supplements. π
The other project is myself and two people (so far) running “command-tactical” (Level 2) wargames in real time via web conferencing. We got together for about ten total hours (that’s two games over two days) and literally had a virtual mini-boot camp, it was great!
The games were Panzer Leader in 1943 and its “descendant” Arab-Israeli Wars in the Sinai 1956.
We hope to expand this idea to more players, more games, etc … as well as to Darkstar (first online game of Darkstar tentatively scheduled for December 1).
Real time, with webcam, audio, shared desktop, people moving their own game pieces on each others’ gameboards (everything on those boards is MOVABLE, they aren’t static images), all with the usual jokes, banter, wisecracks, trash-talking, and fun that comes as if we were all at the same table.
All this, across the Atlantic. π And we can have people from all over engaged at once.
Awesome!
Thanks again for featuring these projects! π
No way, my capodacina is the thumbnail. Mental.
I’ve finally begun to put the finishing touches on my first 2 units for Conquest.
The rest of the collection are at a stage where it will take very little work to complete π
