Happy Sunday Backstagers, CoGs and OTTers!
Gerry, I’ve used AI to make up some scenarios for Maurice, and so far they have been pretty good and it seems to “understand” the rules and the nuances of the different ways you can build an army. Use with care, obviously, but it can save time
Need to try this with some of my games
I’m watching on a tablet so can’t tag you Gerry but….It was Dudley Moore and it is Crazy People.
I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was that it was called Crazy People, how weird is that. Then I looked at the chat and here it is
So following from what Shay was saying about AI and D&D backgrounds I gave it a go. So I asked Claude AI Design a background story for a male wizard called Ping the mercilesz who has a pet duck for a D&D campaign . Wizard from a rich family
It came up with https://claude.ai/share/a58d8fcf-3dce-4e63-8104-5922a5165d56
Interesting it used the misspelled merciless in the background story
What are the red and yellow you are using Ben?
I will let you know when I’m at my hobby desk!
Khorne Red and Averland Sunset @brewer1980
@Ben For a wash have you tried what was Marine juice which I think is a good general wash unfortunately GW have changed their washes but the Donic Sledgehammer you tube channel came up with a new version which is equal part Lahiman medium Reikland flesh shade and AP dark tone. I found it gave good results
I will give it a try!
@avernos
Its “Crazy People”
Jaguar: “For men who’d like hand jobs from beautiful women they hardly know”
Classic. Lives rent free in my brain. I should probably rewatch it at some point.
Happy Sunday (that’s already over again)
Preamble: I iz very tired. barely awake. will comment when needed.
54:00 ICH LIEBE EUCH ALLE! (Also a community is not a person so technically I answered that question correctly.)
1:16:00 “Is 40k the Axl Rose of wargaming?” – Yes!
1:24:00 Goblin Green!
And just like that it’s Monday.
We love you too!
Happy Sunday…….
Thank for the Golden Button. I have a lot of ideas for this. Just need to make them happen. Battle report next.
On the topic of Shatterpoint (Star Wars Crisis Protocol). It is good to hear some actual experiences of playing the game and I’m pleased to hear you had fun painting the minis, like the gameplay and intend to paint and play more. I was at Legionary show (Exeter) on Staurday and the Bring and Buy had a big section of Shatterpoint models. First time I’ve seen them in that context. I’m not sure if a club had started with it and then stopped or whether it was a smaller group’s failed project. They did go before the end so I… Read more »
Yeah I think it’s great fun. It has some really nice miniatures (and you can end up getting them quite cheap from a lot of different places) and gameplay is dynamic and changes up quite a lot tactically.
On detail I think Ben’s hit the nail on the head. I’m assembling some more Frostgrave minis and that’s what I have: just enough detail. I wouldn’t want a ton as though they’re not intended as an army but that’s what I want to do with them (project to follow, when I can get to my paints again).
Yeah, I think the Frostgrave stuff has just enough detail to make them fun for painting. Same goes for Burrows & Badgers. I think the silly amount of detail is something GW is responsible for more than anything.
@brennon have you thought about using nail stamps for shield heraldry? There’s this guy on the interwebs called Gerry who has these Gerry Can videos that can show you how. I prefer oil paint for the stamping as it’s easy to fix an error or clean off.
I will have a look into it. I saw a few gadgets popping up that could do it as well.
RE: Rogue Stars it also added rules for ‘Red Shirts’ so rather than 1 character you got 3 cannon fodder, I think the rules are avabliable under the game entry on Boardgame geek.
@brennon, I love what you have done with the Burrows and Badgers figures. Adding some chipping to the armour and shield will help separate them from the clothes of the same colours. @avernos, those decals from Carthage must be destroyed are just the first step, before you know it, you will have ordered some Wargames Atlantic Barons War models, and before you realise it, you will have already slid down the slippery slope of Medieval Gaming. I am telling you this as a warning, from someone who recently fell into that trap and now has boxes upon boxes of plastic… Read more »

Wow, thanks for the But but ding! Very appreciated, working on the Basileans now so I can get a game in asap!
@brennon I played Halo last weekend, initially I was skeptical but after playing it I was seriously impressed. The modified Deadzone rules work really well. Looking to pick a copy up soon.
