It’s the Weekender!
I’m loving the updates on the 40k Apocalyptic 18′ table build. It’s fun to watch Lloyd get jazzed about this new build. I’m really enjoying it!
Warcry has sucked me into Age of Sigmar finally.
I didn’t what to play any Chaos armies so I had to look around.
The ‘Idoneth Deepkin’ is listed as one of the three armies of ‘Order’.
I remember when the Idoneth Deepkin was first being presented to the AoS community, I told myself that if I ever get into AoS that that would be a cool and different kind of army to go with. It seems that the time is right to enter two games at once. Warcry and AoS.
Gene Wolfe was a veteran of the Korean War. Apparently he used his memories of the experience for his Book of the New Sun.
I think that Peanuts character was Pig Pen, who always had the cloud around him
Linus was the kid with the security blanket and was Lucy’s younger brother.
cheers, all I really remember is that Charlie wouldn’t talk to us at Historicon
Good grief
Great to see some Nork’s for Korea, I’m tossing up between getting South Korean’s or Nork’s and South Koreans.
The Reason the Chinese had so much stuff is that during (for the Germans prior to) WWII the Allies poured weapons into China to support Chiang Kai Shek against the Japanese. The Germans armed parts of Chiang Kai Shek’s Nationalist Army prior to the war as well but for obvious reasons their aid was not able to continue. The Communists obviously beat Chiang Kai Shek and his Nationalists and managed to capture a lot of his equipment.
Please do some Asian heads, I’d really like some for WW2 myself but they’d just be so useful for Korea too.
One of the Greatest TV shows ever made was a US copy of a UK Show. All in the Family was a copy of Till Death Us Do Part and is far better.
The City is called “Justonia” named for it’s former bumbling fool of a Governor who’s incompetence caused the war that destroyed it.
He oversaw the city from the “Glorious Hall of his most Exemplary Majesty of his Holiness the Emperor’s Servant his Humbleness the Benevolent Justinius” of “The Hall of Majesty” where the Governor ran his planet into the ground mainly by bankrupting it with two enormous projects.
The First was the “Spire to His Most Holy Emperor’s Eternal Glory” an endless spire that was simply built upwards until it collapsed and when t did they simply started again. “When our glorious structure finally pleases the God Emperor only then will it stand for all time”. The Spire also housed the Arbites which caused a lot of public order problems since most were killed in the five collapses of the Great Spire.
The Second was the “Most Glorious Hall of His Most Holy Emperor’s Beloved Adeptus Astartes” which was an attempt to have an Astartes Chapter founded on the planet. it failed miserably but the Governor refused to admit defeat and only poured even more money and lives into it’s construction.
The City was Destroyed when the rioting population, unsuppressed by the now much depleted Arbites, stormed the Capitol and the City was overrun. The Governor holed himself up in The Hall of Majesty and sent reports that a Chaos Cult had overwhelmed the city and demanded aid. He was answered by an Inquisitorial response force who simply nuked the city from orbit, destroying everything and declared the planet “contained”.
Now the planet occupies a key place that must be captured in order to maintain contact with the Dark Side of the Imperium and so war has once again come to the City of Justinia.
Derelict town falling to bits . No sentient life visible. Danger lurking round every corner. I name this town Lurgan
lol I fell in love with a girl from there once…
That has to be a story for an XLBS!
The scatter terrain is easy then, bottles of a legendary tonic known to cure all woes!
Lurgan Champagne!
The Clone Wars stuff is going to be huge in my local group and I’m very excited.
The Prequels are one of the best stories that was extremely poorly executed and badly acted (plus those horrendous Gungans) and has so much cool stuff just waiting to be explored. What was it 5 seasons of Clone Wars plus the Two Movies meas we’ll see so many epic Jedi and Droids.
If anyone hasn’t seen the best breakdown of Star Wars ever I direct you to Alex Jones explaining Star Wars in under 3 minutes.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKm4ueVuxpY
THEY’RE TURNING THE FRIGGIN’ WOOKIES GAY!!!!
lol
also don’t forgot the two amazing clone wars series that tied episode 2 and 3
Clone Wars is a great series. The really good stuff is at the end though but it’s very worth it to see so much cool stuff.
Genndy is a fantastic director it was really great seeing that samurai jack style brought to star wars. Shame the episodes were only 10 mins long
It’s the Weekend!!
Truuudvaaang looks interesting, but nowadays a pile of plastic looks daunting and I’m not yet convinced about the gameplay elements.
OK, the Apocalypse table, hmmm…
The planet is called… hmmm… TABEL, and it’s where Space marines from all over the galaxy come to… umm… EAT, yeah that’s it… Eat, the third building is a big canteen where Spacemarines come to eat! There are long tables where, after collecting their meals on a tray from the Emperor’s servery… That’s it, it’s called “The Emperor’s Servery”. anyway after getting their food they sit at long tables to eat. They recently had to build an extension allowing bigger chairs and tables to accommodate the Primaris.
That means the second building is… umm…the Kitchen obviously. You have to have a kitchen to prepare food for the canteen! This is staffed by bad-ass Sistas, especially the chatty ones who are disqualified from the Sisters of Silence. Every now and then there’s a kitchen uprising from the sistas getting fed-up with being treated in a sexist way who run off and form their own Legion officially recognised as the Adepta Sororitas, which I believe translates as “capable sistas” (What do you mean that’s being sexist, it’s not like GW give a f**k – have you seen their typical female sculpts?)
Anyway, back to the table… sorry… planet TABEL. The first building is where they process the dead bodies from previous battles to produce meat for the kitchen and is called… “Building One”. They call it that because they don’t want anyone to know what happens in there! Bet you thought I wasn’t able to think of a good name…Hah!
Given that the input to B1 (that those of us too lazy to type out the full name call it – damnit – using 99 characters to explain why I’m saving seven) is a mixture of various species this inevitably means that there will be Spacemarine and other human body parts in the mix. It’s believed by many that it was actually the consumption of high levels of Spacemarines by Spacemarines that led to the Primaris! Other stories of special serums etc is just spin.
The other thing is sometimes the body parts processed by B1 have travelled a long way and often go off/bad. This leads to some Spacemarines consuming this and falling ill. That brings us to the last building, B4, otherwise known as the “Officio Ass-asssore-um”. The tower is in fact an inverted cess-pit as due to some strange physics s#it their s#it is lighter than air. Any that fail to fully recover are shown the back-door, many of whom then run off to form new legions called the Chaos Spacemarines. The whole Horus Heresey story was really just an Imperial PR exercise to cover up their true origins.
There you go, not only have I named your table “TABEL” and explained each of the buildings; I’ve also come up with believable explanations for some of the SM background. Makes more sense than that Black Library drivel anyway!
😉 not much offence intended to those of you heavily invested in the 40k world!
soylent green is people!
Through early morning fog I see
visions of the things to be
the pains that are withheld for me
I realize and I can see…
that suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
The game of life is hard to play
I’m gonna lose it anyway
The losing card I’ll someday lay
so this is all I have to say.
suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
The sword of time will pierce our skins
It doesn’t hurt when it begins
But as it works its way on in
The pain grows stronger…watch it grin.
suicide is painless
It brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
A brave man once requested me
to answer questions that are key
is it to be or not to be
and I replied ‘oh why ask me?’
suicide is painless
it brings on many changes
and I can take or leave it if I please.
…and you can do the same thing if you please……
queue James Dean Bradfield
While I fully appreciate the context of these lyrics I hopefully don’t need to point out that there’s some deep serious s#it in them.
Should anyone seriously consider that suicide is painless and is something to be taken or left as one pleases, please seek some help based upon up-to-date thinking about such matters as PTSD, depression etc.
Samaritans in the UK – call 116 123
The planet is Carbopluviam, found in the Septentrionalem System, which is part of the Herberinosa Galaxy, located far, far, away…oops wrong IP.
Carbopluviam was a relative normal planet, except for one thing – how fanatically religious its populus was. Many miracles, visions of the Emperor and other Imperial Heroes (notably a lack of Dark Angels o-O) and many mysterious icons and artefacts. Many of these icons were claimed to have certains powers, the priests on Carbopluviam claimed they channelled the will of the Emperor, and all the troubles on the planet began when these claims started to investigated by Inquistator Oryctolagus Cuniculus. What he discovered, and unwittingly unleashed on Carbopluviam, has been redacted from Imperial records, but war rages on, Chaos, Imperial, Tau, Eldar, Ork and even Squats battle today searching for the power of whatever Oryctolagus found in the city of Destitutum. Rumour has it though that a 3,000 point Nid army is on the way to devour any Squats that have entered the city!
The first building is the administrative centre of the Cult of Ludum. It was here that Oryctolagus first begin to investigate in Destitutum. Priests tried to hide many of mysterious artifacts that were stored here when they felt the gaze of the Inquisition on them, but Oryctolagus was resourceful and discovered things that no man, even an Inquistator, should ever see… The locals called this building the Fluminis Casa.
The second building was a shrine to the Adeptus Astartes. The chapter it was dedicated to, is little known, but the Cisternina Deus saved Destitutum from an Ork invasion, 300 years before the present times and the people worshiped these marines as gods here. More sinister dealings have been thought to have occurred here, and ultimately this shrine to the Imperiums finest warriors may be the source of all of Destitutum’s woes. This building was known as the Ecclesia Stercus.
The final building was the jewel in the crowd of the Cult of Ludum. It towered over the city, showering the populous of the city in the glory of the Cult of Ludum – literally showered as the architect placed a large fountain on the top and much golden rain fell on the people – a warm golden shower you could say. Hidden deep within this building is the source of the Cult power, what this source of power is, we do not know, but war rages over it. Another place of worship but also of sacrifice, and not just goats! This building was the Aurum Stillæ Pluviarum.
Ok, I need coffee after that!
Must resist naming table anything political…. although if the tall building isn’t at least nicknamed Trump towers for reasons (I have my background 🤔🤭)
You could call it Clamp towers and have lots of little gremlins. I mean termagants running about the board
would the little gremlins be clampets then?
good morning everyone
the heat is finally gone 41.8 º 😁
I love the Bolt Action: Korea figure (MASH) now I’m going to whistle all day the theme song from M.A.S.H 4077 🎶🎶🎵
Those MASH minis might break @sundancer!
https://youtu.be/ARt9HV9T0w8
and it’s technically not a new system if it’s for display purposes, AM I RITE ?
Stop pressing blood from a stone (aka money from my wallet). But, to be honest, if any of my local store would carry them… they somehow would find their way to me…. I fear…
So I’ll stay at home. for ever.
The warlord resin might be a good material for extra heads? A tiny bit lighter than metal, and perhaps a more attractive material to those non-metal believers.
And those KPA are so nice. Agree with Warren about the love for the person or persons whom painted them up… They have really flicked my shiny syndrome switch on these!
They’ve done them for SPQR so I think they will change them all in time from metal. Just a matter of when
The Chinese PVA sounds like an army who would stick around for a long time…
I also had to rewind when Gerry said the guy would make a great spotter, I actually thought he said train spotter and was wondering if Lloyd had invented a new game!
Cheers mate, I had a blast painting them
I really need that Mash squad – it brings back memories of being allowed to stay up late to watch the show on BBC2 when I was a kid. Fingers crossed warlord does the helicopter ambulances with the patient bubbles on the sides.
Now, how shall I build “the swamp” in 28mm scale? 🙂
I’m looking forward to picking up some of the Chinese and Korean infantry. You could use the Chinese for the civil War in China just prior to Korea, 1946/7-1949, though fighting between the Nationalists and Communist factions goes further back to pre-WW2.
I think that entire sector is one big Administratum centre, with many branches represented. But the big tower I would name the Basilica Administratum and that is the primary hub of governance. Filled with thousands of Administratum clerks whose sole job is to oversee the rest of the facility, whose job in turn it is to manage the rest of the planet. The large tower would probably be the seat of the planetary governor, its not big enough to be a primary space port but it probably has (had?) a private spaceport for use by the governor and their family and staff. The height not only facilitates the private space port but also serves as a perfect symbol of Imperial Authority over the planet. From their loft seat in the stratosphere the governor sees all over which he holds dominion.
Now I think about it, I think the whole complex should be the Basilica Administratum. Like a cathedral to the sacred administrators of the Imperium. The spire needs a new name.
ill try the big tower out for a name. I was thinking The Spire of The Heretics. The bottom of the building is a front administration, followed by prison cells, the troops that are deemed heretics and outlaws are brought up to the top of the tower to be thrown to their death as a “final fall from grace”
THE CITY OF ANSWERS
This city is the sanctuary of humanity, where the spiritual power given by the Emperor to his children gathers. And that makes it the most vulnerable place in all galaxies. When this city falls, everything is lost to the darkness for ever.
Building 1 = THE COMMANDERS HALL – There, all commanders receive their final consecration. Whoever harbored any doubts will find his destiny in these halls
Building 2 = THE CATHEDRAL OF THE LOST – Where all fallen souls can find peace Many have left, but their pure souls have resisted chaos. They will find comfort here and form the force field of the city
Building 3 = THE TOWER OF ETERNiTY – Anyone entering this tower promises to give their life in the fight against chaos within a day. The top-of-the-line teleporter transports these mortals straight into the middle of the galaxy’s bloodiest battlefield. But watch out, this teleporter is open in both directions.
…and so it beginns…
With GW naming everything to make it sound like Latin the very obvious and predictable name for the massive tower would be Bigus Dickus
Constructed by the Erectus Maximus?
How about keeping it simple for for the actual city
Culranius Imperialis
For some of the buildings like the one that’s going to have all the skulls in I can picture as a tomb full of the emperors heroes so something like Sepulcrum of the Chosen.
I can also imagine the large tower as something like the Tower of Babel so referencing trying to reach the God Emperor like the Eternal Stairway.
I quite like the idea of Warcry only having Chaos Warbands because they’re not really mainstream chaos, they are more like Necromunda gangs than chaos warbands. Apart from being barbaric, aggressive and violent there is nothing about the Warcry warbands that really looks like Chaos as we know it. I would like to see some other warbands, maybe something like the Fyreslayers could work or maybe a bunch of human mercenaries from the free cities, but I am not really convinced that I want to see Stormcast stealing the show again.
At the end of the BA Korea segment they talk about the tickets for October probably being gone by now.
I get that the segment is pre-recorded but the guys in the main show didn’t follow-up or clarify that at all.
I haven’t seen them offered yet – have I missed it?
Talked about it last week in the segment on warlords organised play. They will be announced to backstagers first but haven’t been released yet. I forgot Charlie had talked about that in that interview
I saw that last week and have been keeping an eye out so when I heard them saying the tickets might all be gone I was ‘wait, what!!’ so thank you for putting my mind at rest.
I shall keep an eye and ear out on tomorrow’s show to see if there’s an update.
MASH is a great show.
I think you’ll find it’s spelled M*A*S*H 😉
Well, the way I spell it is MASH.
The City of Kolrayne on the planet Kult
The Kolrayne Muster Ground is a vast complex of stately buildings which opulently demonstrate Kult’s allegiance to the Imperial creed. Ostensibly, Kult is a compliant world that takes great pride in supporting the Imperial fleets as they come to collect their tithes of conscripts, initiates, and psykers. However this show of allegiance would seem to some to be a bit too keen, raising suspicion that the High Lords of Kult have hidden agendas that they wish to hide. Perhaps one day in the not too distant future, some of these agendas may become exposed, bringing war to the shores of Kolrayne…..
Building 1: The Senatorial Muster
Under the official gaze of the High Lords and officials of Kolrayne two important ceremonies occur. Firstly, when the armed forces off Kult have cause to go to war they assemble on this parade ground amidst huge ceremony. Thousands of native citizens whoop and cheer as the might of Kult’s armies form ranks and board their ships. Secondly, when the Imperial ships come to collect their tithes, the conscripts and novitiates pass out through the exalted gates and march towards the destiny that awaits, again amidst great ceremony.
Building 2: The Conscriptorum
This is where the conscripts pledge their allegiance to the Imperium prior to passing out through the Muster. It is a very religious ceremony, full of pomp and fanfare. The families of the conscripts are allowed to attend and are made to feel that their young offspring are off to better things. They omit the part about the average life expectancy of a novitiate in the imperial fleets…..
Building 3: The Astronomicon Navigatorum
High in the tower the most powerful astropaths communicate with the Imperial fleets as they come to collect their tithes. The role of the astropath is held in very high esteem by the wider populace, however once admitted to the Navigatorum the psyker is never allowed to leave. In addition to the regular communication with official Imperial channels, the High Lords of Kolrayne have other messages to send and receive. The risk of these communicae becoming leaked is far too high to allow any knowledge of them to leave the tower.
@lloyd the baneblade variant you are referring to is the storm lord.
That’s the one, give this man a biscuit!
A chocolate Hob Nob I hope
