The great thing about social options being removed is there is lot of time for catching up and doing new hobby!
Those cow things really are a load of mootunus tutunus
Happy Weekend!
Tabletop power against covid-19. Roll your dice and kill the virus.
Really enjoyable show and it’s great that you can offer so much positive cheer during these dark times. I remember see the not Monty Python Holy Grail miniatures some time ago and was tempted then… there’s no excuse now because we do need to support these micro businesses more than ever now (I’ll keep shouting out for Tim Prow’s excellent DieHard Miniatures for a retro Oldhammer style load of beauties). Must also have a look at Frostgrave as this may be the answer to an alternative for Mordheim (why can’t GW resurrect that fantastic game?). No better excuse to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. Stay safe everyone.
Frostgrave is really good if you like Mordheim adjacent games – it’s got a lot of that spirit but with a bit more quirk 🙂
I really don’t get along with the look of those big Lumineth Realm-lords moutain spirit cow guys, but I wonder if we are looking at them wrong. Imagine if those trees and montains on their backs aren’t bonsai, but are real. Change the scale, put a few small buildings on their bases that don’t come up past their hooves, and a tiny guy on horseback running away and you have some impressive AoS Titans in the vein of Shadow of the Colossus. They become gods walking the land. They don’t need to look practical for fighting as nothing can compare to them. They just need to look majestic so you worship them. I think they work if you look at them like that, and not in the scale of the game they are meant for.
This then asks a question: Were they designed at a 3-5mm scale for a game we don’t know is/was under development, but got repurposed?
The horns on the Aelves with big hammers are hopefully a separate part of the helmet then you might be able to leave them of.
Ah another weekender to brighten up my gloomy weekend
Soooo ready for the Weekender!! Blood of the Phoenix does look good would go halves with my Drukahri buddy…. Not that he is an actual Dark Eldar that would be terrible and spikey..
Before making my mind up on the big cows, I want to see them next to something else for scale. If they are very large they may make more sense, if they are just troll/ogre sized not so much.
The Warcry stuff is solid but a bit unremarkable for me. Firey chaos dudes isn’t so ground breaking.
I would imagine they’re ‘Bloodthirster size’. GW seems to want each army to have its own endless spells, terrain and large (expensive) monsters and it looks like these guys are their large monster equivalent units so are probably around the same physical size.
I agree with you about the fire Warcry warband. I like the models, but I find the concept a bit dull.
Quarantine hasn’t been too bad for me, I am “Essential” so I still have to go to work.
Thanks for putting in the time guys.
Likewise. I shouldn’t complain given how serious this is for a lot of people, but I would really appreciate a few weeks or months of enforced hobby time!
Great episode, nice to see Zoom getting heavy use 🙂
Lloyd, I would like to disagree with your assessment of Rebels. I can understand people thinking it was terrible as most of the Star Wars animated series at the start have not been the best, Clone Wars (which start as a movie) was disliked. However, from the last episode of Series 1 of Rebels to the end, it built upon some solid story foundations from Clone Wars. What Rebels also did was close off or give a conclusion to stories that were started in Clone Wars case in point the final four episodes of series 7 are set on Mandalore, which feeds into some story beats in later series of Rebels, which then, in turn, feeds elements of The Mandalorian. So I would suggest watching Clone Wars then Rebels also remember the animated shows were not created for older start wars audiences but for kids, as they were shown on the Disney channel XD. If nothing else from Series 3 onwards (till the end) of Rebels Grand Admiral Thrawn is the Villian voiced Lars Mikkelsen, who’s brother Mads Mikkelsen was in Rogue One. This is the first time a non-cannon Character was made Cannon and spawn a new collection of Novels for Thrawn written by Timothy Zahn.
Fabuis Bile? Faaaaybius Bile? FABULOUS BILL!
Uh oh! Looks like my bank account will be emptied now I’ve seen Studio Miniatures.
I have a few of theirs (waiting for paint as you’d expect) and they’re excellent quality.
🙃You can live without food, right?!
I could do with skipping a few meals for sure 😉
Guys, thanks for the show. So happy to hear St. Nazarene is moving forward, want regular update, please. See you all Sunday.
Oh wow! Didn’t know there were any of those Blood of the Phoenix sets left. Must admit, be nice to have a crack at something different to Imperial Guardsmen…
Studio Miniature models really look good.
glad to see you guys … have a friend would love that prize liked to win that and share
Really appreciating the support the community of developers and companies during this time.
The amount of freebies coming out will not only help keep everybody entertained while in isolation, but will also help spread their brand/games so that once all this is over, hopefully everybody will be more aware and keen to help support many more developers and companies they haven’t before.
It’s absolutely amazing and I hope the community rallies to support them all in kind!
Soooo…. you’ve pulled a Gerry Can from the vaults… to fill some gaps… maybe putting on some filler on the cracks that @warzan back has made? Either way… I’d taken a Gerry Can on plastic putty 😉
Now, what to listen to next while I continue to clean my Hobbyroom/Homeoffice?!
Jerry, you have any problem painting over that Justin grease you used under that roller?
if I do use oil or vaseline to lube them up once they’re completely cured I give them a scrub in soapy water, otherwise it will cause issues
I love the smell of Weekender in the morning
The new Sigmar minis are incredible
fantastic prize from a great show
Another Great Weekender and discussions. I’m really loving the new Ghostrider miniature for the game. The Oathmark game is very intriguing with its concepts, might have to give that one a try. Frosthaven is looking like something that I might have to back on Kickstarter.
Stay Safe and Drive On!
Warren you [email protected]%*@rd! I just went to Northumbrian Tin Soldier and purchased their The Time Robbers set. Great minis. I’ve wanted them for years. Thanks for the sign to buy from a far! 🙂
