WWX Demo Game: Union VS Enlightened Part One!

It's time to kick off the big Wild West Exodus Demo Game where we're pitting Justin and his Union forces against Sean from Outlaw Miniatures with his Enlightened.
We'll be teaching you how to play this awesome game and having some epic fun with some of the unique units each side can bring to the fight.
So who is your money on? Do you think Justin will come out on top with his Union soldiers or Sean with his Enlightened?

Likewise! Most people I know are more into (ugh) video games or board games (nothing wrong with the latter). LGS has a lot of Warhammer and Inifinity fans, but I’ve never seen anyone playing WWX.

It does start slowly, but explaining all movements can have this effect… Minis look gorgeous (and fabulously painted), can we get photo shots ?

the one thing that kept me so far to take a closer look at WWX is the fact with the set characters. I’m not a big fan of using named character models in my games especially when I play against the same faction with the same named character models.
But it seems that WWX has enough to offer so I can overlook that fact, I still hope at one point we are able to ‘build’ our own character models!

I always like the BoW demo games. Very clear as to what’s going on, and easy to follow even if you’ve never played the game before.

So straight off, well done @dignity, this is a well put together battle report / demo. The production level of BoW has gone up and up. Pretty sure this is one of the first series done at the new Riverside location and it seems the quality is at a different level.
The game play looks great, the cards make everything run smoothly and there is still a chance of a little rules debate that needs to be part of a gentlemanly / ladylike game. I play games to enjoy the experience and have a good time, as such playing competitively is fine as long as it is fun. The narrative story here really makes this game interesting and dynamic.
Keep up the good work and keep improving, you’re doing great.
I have been thinking of getting into this game as I do love me a good western.
By the way did anyone else notice, in the cut away sections when they are explaining their tactics, there is a wanted poster to the left…I think it looks like Justin…how much was the reward…lol

Will there be or already in the game any special formation. Say to have some special rules:
Re-roll on miss, or to have plus stats
There is an “Influence” mechanic which is pivotal in the game. Basically, each side starts a game round with a pool of Influence tokens (based on those contributed by the existing members of the posse). Players can spend that Influence on rolls to get a re-roll for a die. Multiple influence can be spent on a single die. However, you must decide BEFORE the roll whether to spend the Influence on it or not, and once it’s been spent, it’s gone for the round (whether you needed to re-roll or not). As models with Influence are lost, your available Influence each round decreases accordingly. The nice thing is, ANY model in your posse can use the Influence (whether they contribute to the pool or not).

Very interesting game, the video is great, camera set-up is cool as the front view shows the AT-AT on the board. the terrain is great although the Barber shop is missing, I wonder how Justin got his goatee shaved off.

I’m so excited to discover this game on Beasts os War. I hope I will learn more about the rules and the background.
Looks good so far. Questions: can the fire set off the constructs inside the vehicle? After all, dynamite was always a bit fiddly. Does the height of the mesa in the middle affect movement?
Looking at the new kickstarter, it’d be nice if it made it high enough for all the line to go to plastic, instead of resin/metal. Hopefully that would make the minis less expensive and easier to get collected.
Also, I liked the initiative mechanic, but does the influence used to re-roll get used up so as not to be available in the latter parts of the turn?
Kind of a slow build as everyone moves into position. Onward to part II.

Love the set-up. The more I see this the more I want to give it a try. I saw the ‘Pulp City’ miniatures on the weekender and thought that might be the one. Not sure now. I could petition the boss for an increase in pocket money, but then again……….
My Wife, Daughter, Nieces and myself are planning on going all out with this one with a Cosplay, music and food themed weekender!

Pretty interesting game, not usually a fan of westerns but I love the look of the minis but I’m still not sure which action I’ll choose if I decide to play, the Enlightened, Dark Nation and Outlaws would be my pick, crazy scientists and robots? Evil Native-Americans? Bad-ass gunslingers and bank robbers? Yes please, oh and they had better end up bringing Ned Kelly out in the future!
So this game could sway me from the usual sci-fi and fantasy 🙂
