Footsore Miniatures have shown off the finished and painted version of Brian Boru and his retainers that will be available at Historicon this week and on the webstore shortly afterwards. They also have painted versions of their Warrior Priest and Ulf the Quarrelsome...

An Aged King

The first model to take a look at is of course Brian Boru who comes sitting on a rock watching the battle unfold before him as his loyal retainers stand in support.

Brian Boru

I think this is a particularly evocative scene and it's neat to see Footsore work on some Warlords that develop more as a little vignette. This is one of the benefits of SAGA in particular; that you can model your Warlord to look as impressive as possible.

A Motley Crew

As well as Brian Boru there are two other new releases just around the corner. Both the Warrior Priest and Ulf are pictured below on either side of the King showing off the superb paint job from Footsore.

Warrior Priest, Brian Boru & Ulf

Despite being a historical game with a lot of grounding in reality the Dark Ages give you so much to play around with when it comes to personal stories and epic narratives. This period of history was one filled with incredibly vibrant characters carrying over a narrative tradition from the past which heightened their status and mythical quality.

I think as time moved on through the Medieval period with the rise of Christianity that sense of myth was lost so it's great to delve back into miniature collections like those from Footsore and come up with epic sagas of your own.

Will you be picking these models up?
