Forged In Battle has announced that pre-orders are now live for their War & Empire III Dark Age collection with a view for a full release on August 28th 2020. The Historical range is going to go fast apparently so if you're interested in these teasers it's well worth going to have a deeper dive on their webstore.

War & Empire III Dark Age Normans // Forged In Battle

The range is going to look beyond the normal confines of just the Western European Dark Age and instead will cast rather a wide net. You'll have access to all of the classic Dark Age armies like the Vikings, Normans and Anglo-Saxons but you'll also get the Palmyran, Byzantines, Carolingians, Lombards, Rus, Slav, Ghaznavid, Bulgar, Magyar, Avar, Khazar, Pechneg, Hun and Arabic forces from the period too. I guess many of them would have met with the Vikings at one point or another!

You're also going to be able to go back in time a little bit to the fall of the Roman empire and be able to snap up some Arthurian elements for the tabletop in 15mm as well. They can go up against some Late Roman aggressors who are still clinging on to the fringes of their empire and maybe you could throw a few Welsh in their too?

This range isn't just going to be looking at providing you with rather fancy looking 15mm armies for you to play with on the tabletop either.

Forged In Battle's Dark Age Terrain

The team at Forged In Battle have some really nice looking terrain waiting to be added to your gaming tables too.

For example, you'll be able to pick up a Viking Longship (or two...or three) which you can use to raid the coast of England with. I like these as an option for scenario-based games and also as a bit of set dressing in the background if you're looking to do a fight on the coast.

You've also got this Motte & Bailey which looks pretty darn stunning and would make a good place to hole up defensively...

...and also this Meade Hall because who doesn't need a place to relax when you've been off fighting invaders all day? It also seems like the perfect place to set alight!

You can also get some relics of the days of yore with a few crumbling Roman Ruins and this Ruined Temple.

There may indeed be some treasures left here by the previous occupiers that you could use to help fund your army and their exploits on the battlefield. This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to their Dark Age range and if you want to find out more, I would recommend exploring their webstore HERE.

Are you tempted to dive into the War & Empire collection for your 15mm Dark Age wargaming needs?
