Isn’t this the beauty of this hobby ?

Games will live on forever … or at least as long as someone out there is playing.
It’s not like videogames where hardware failure or basic incompatibilty with modern tv’s will cripple our ability to enjoy a game eventually.

Even going out of print isn’t a big problem unless special components are required.
And even those can be improvised by gamers thanks to the wonders of modern technology.
The only thing really stopping anyone are copyright related and that’s only a moral barrier, not a practical one thanks to the wonders of the internet and 3D printing.

There is nothing any company can do to stop us playing, except to brainwash us into thinking we can only use their official minis and their latest version.

The only real danger is when games rely on digital components like living rulebooks or anything with an on-line component.
You can’t play version 1.0 of a game when you don’t have access to that specific version without not-so-legal backups.

I do wonder what the legal situation for those Warmaster rules is. GW might have something to say about that regardless of the intentions of the fans.
