Unfortunately this is a byproduct of kickstarter as it seems to happen far to often on smaller companies. Kickstarter is a good platform if used correctly, the main problem is that the majority of people who back a project are going to be your main player base. This then leaves the retail market at a loss as to stock the product or not after launch.
Mantic I think has been very lucky with the walking dead, but I think that is more to do with the popularity of the walking dead IP bringing people into the game, than the game itself. Although I did do the kickstarter and I do enjoy the game, I’m also a fan of the IP.
Im waiting for the Heroes of Black Reach in which wasn’t a kickstarter but more a pre order instead, this I think was a Games Workshop deal they had to do as GW don’t do kickstarter.
Devil Pig games are not the only ones who have poor communication when it comes to kickstarter, prodos, the dust debacle are to name just two. I appreciate and applaud Devil Pig for making a statement such as this and I wish them well in sorting out their issues after all the Heroes system is very good and fun to play.
