@rayzryr  , I never really thought about … I just see something and think I can replicate it to a degree based on the kit limitations ( molded on details , optional parts , bits box finds ) , research ( my book collection , various web sites and photos found on the net ) as well as my hobby skills ( is it a straight swap of parts or a whole rebuild stuff from scratch ) 001 14

I’ve always been interested by this KV II since I saw a few pictures in a Squadron / Signal book back in the 70s . This one vehicle held up a Panzer Division at a cross roads  for a couple of days , ( village name escapes  me ) but it was eventually knocked out and all crew killed ( buried with honors by the Germans ) . Today  I can find 20 pictures of this vehicle on a Russian KV site  so its much easier to model it . Then its just a matter of deciding what part of the kit to cut . remove , or replace . As I have been building tanks for 45 years it gets to be pretty easy to figure that out . The same with kit bashing Warlord’s figures , it just a matter of the pose you want to replicate , the parts you have on hand , and how much tweaking the arms and legs will need to look natural . This KV kit came with 2 turrets so I decided to model the hull with bothIMG_20180108_212150975IMG_20180109_112028

Since these pictures , I’ve moved the open fender box to the rear part of the fender as it stops the turret from turning .
