Hey All, hope your collective weekends are going well 🙂

@elessar2590 thanks for hosting!

1.    Since we Hobbyists tend to get a lot of mail, how do you “deal with” a parcel coming to you? Are you checking the tracking details constantly. always running to the mailbox or are you content to just sit and wait?

I tend to be fairly ambivalent about things arriving. I used to get really excited and sweat on the arrival of a particular package, but I have a much more relaxed approach now. As long as it arrives in due course then that’s fine. There are some courier companies that I would prefer senders didn’t use as their collection points are difficult to get to outside standard business hours, but as most places don’t announce their preferred locally partnered courier for international orders I guess you just have to roll with it. Not too much of a concern in the grand scheme of things 🙂

2.    What’s your favourite leftover food to eat straight out of the fridge?

Leftovers?…. Nope, all the food goes into my tummy after I make it 🙂 OK, leftover fried rice maybe…

3.    Are you a fan of Tournaments or Organised Events?

I used to be (WHFB 6th and 7th eds). Nowadays I can’t settle on one rules system and don’t really want to invest the time in keeping up with what all the new units mean for all the armies in a particular game. Also, while I have had pretty good luck in the past, there are a certain type of gamer that you tend to run into at tournaments and they are not by and large the ones that I would seek out socially.

4.    What’s the best “Socks and Jocks”/”Stocking Stuffer” gift for a Hobbyist?

Greenstuff! No wait, Glue!, No, brushes! More paint! Basing material! Dice! Scenic elements! MDF carts! …ok there are actually a fair few, and that’s without the ubiquitous mini in blister packaging…

5.    You’ve just been given a new rulebook, assume it’s a fantasy/sci-fi genre, what’s the first thing you do? Do you read from page one, look at the artwork, read the fluff, learn the rules or maybe something else?

For ‘rulebooks’ as in the core rules of a game I’ll flick through and try and get a quick handle on the layout of a book and what’s contained within as far as the size/weighting of relevant sections. I’kk then start at the front and go through the intro, opening lorre and core rules. I’ll then usually skim the additional special rules, detailed lore, spells/equipment sections before coming back later on to do a proper read. For ‘supplements’ such as army books I used to end up going straight for the ‘crunch’ as I got annoyed every time a factions backstory was rewritten for the narrative of the current games system…

No formal hobby pledge this week as I have a bunch of stuff on- will keep chipping away at what’s on my painting desk when the opportunity presents and post progress as it happens.

Responses to everyone’s posts later 🙂
