Rapid Deployment Russian.
Speed painted and dipped Soviet soldier. My first go at the Army Painter method since Warlord’s plastic EIRs back in ‘09.
Gotta say, works quite nicely. The paints are of good consistency (although Soviet Body Armour needed quite a bit of shaking..) and seem to be designed to work particularly good with quickshade. Agrax works as well, of course but quickshade provides a great protective varnish which is particularly handy when one does metal figures. The Anti Shine needs no introduction and brings it all together. I’ve brushed it on rather than using my beloved W&N professional Matt spray.
Of course you could add more highlights and details but I wanted to see what a really basic technique looks like so I only added some to the greatcoat/ bedroll and a little bit to the face. Net painting was under 30mins. Drying time about six hours. Better to let it dry over night I guess but I was just not patient enough ?.
Although my usual way of painting Bolt Action figures isn’t slow either I hate to admit this is even faster with the result not being vastly worse than what I usually produce ?
I’m definitely gonna try the other sets as well and keep my fingers crossed for some Desert War paint sets and separate paints in the future.
