Good evening, everyone.
Okay, first of all, wow. Thank you so much everyone for giving this thread (and Sitrep in general) such a warm welcome here on OTT. Most of all, for being so supportive of each other with so many likes and thumbs-up for each others’ work.
@suetoniuspaullinus – USMC for life, man. Semper Fi. 😀
I love your 20mm Elhiem and Strike Back minis, but especially your Chechen War armies. I can see where one are the rebels and one are Russian Federation. So you “specialize” in first Chechen War (1995-6) or Second (2000-2009) – or does it really matter? Certainly not meant to challenge, just wondering if you’re looking at certain photos, engagements, or battles for reference.
And when it comes to “Pandora’s Box,” not only do I want to open it, I want to blow that sucker apart and let it never be closed again!
And I like that second batch of Marines. They’re kitted out (or, should I say “geared up”) to a pretty serious degree. These look like later on in the Iraq War, maybe during the Surges, when personal equipment was becoming less standardized and more mission-specific?
And those British you can tell instantly just from the camo pattern, without even looking at the shape of the helmets, helmet webbing, or weapons (my usual “cheat codes” for quick identification). I barely manage to get the colors and “color balance” right on my 20mm camouflage.
@limburger – My guess would be for Skirmish Sangin or its companion game, Plausible Deniability (both from Dishdash games) – if you’re looking for a Rainbow Six kind of skirmish game. There’s also a “hybrid RPG” element in the game that some players find appealing.

Yeah, sadly Force-on-Force is a quiet space lately. Too bad, it’s still one of the best systems I’ve seen for the asymmetrical aspect of warfare. That term is thrown around almost as often as its misunderstood, but that system “gets it.” There’s been talk of some kind of revival, but I’m not an expert on the “biz” side of things.
@damon – Looking forwrd to it! As you of all people know, I’ve bneen kind of “b***z-deep* in some Arab-Israeli Wars lately. 😀
@piers – I love the scenery, terrain, and poses on your minis. The “battle carry” on those assault carbines is epic. And man! How many points is that drum-fed grenade launcher worth? (Milkor 40mm MSGL? Total shot in the dark there) …
And the markings /logos on the civilian clothes are a great touch! I have some DPR / LNR separatists I managed to put in “track suits” with the sterotypical white lines down the sides of pants and jackets, but that’s about it.
@rasmus – thanks very much, but I honestly don’t think my painting /tables are anywhere near @suetoniuspaullinus and @piers . 😀 😀 😀
