I picked up some PLA last night and finally (finally) got something more than a ball of goop or plastic spaghetti out of my little Up!Mini printer. I thought I might have been a little previous writing it off, with buying a Prusa i3 clone (arriving Friday, yay!) but thought… well, if I’m printing, why not try printing Castle Grayskull for my He-Man mini to run around in?

It turns out the scaling was very wrong on the original file. When I scaled it up to a reasonable size, it didn’t all fit on the print bed! So I emailed the files over to Jon at Eagle Lab Brighton late last night and this afternoon got this photo message.

Very exciting! The print time is about eight hours per section, so the tower base is still running (as of 7pm tonight). I’ll pop over in the morning to pick up the pieces and see how they look after a bit of sanding/filling/priming….

(in other He-Man related news, my minis from Quest Miniatures turned up and are primed and ready for painting!)
