Rounds complete on the orc/raptor cavalry. I got them sprayed with a matte sealer, and now that I look at them, I don’t think they merit a paint upgrade just yet. A dozen of the orc cavalry are destined for glory at my LGS, when the battle boards are finished.

I got Vi to take pics with her tablet. Works so much better than our old camera.

@robert Thanks for the nod of approval. Grenadier used to make the best mini’s around, and some were big enough that you can still use them in a 28mm heroic setting.

Some pics from the yard:

This is my summer work station… or the garage. Very humid, so a good day for wet blending!

This is my old paint bag! If I put my coffee cup out Vi will put a flower in it.

Back, back yard. The pond is low this year, in part due to the drought, but also because some brain dead shit pump built her house along the creek that runs through the back of our place, and didn’t build up the site. Then she put in a basement and complained to the municipality for years that it was leaking. They trenched out the creek, dropped the ground level water by three feet, and destroyed several hundred trout ponds. She got death threats and moved to Ontario.

@robert I have to agree about the ghosts. The one on the right may be too dark. A white glaze, maybe?

Great job on the crates! Looks like you’ll get those done this weekend. How far along are you on the guns

@elessar2590 Painting cam on 15mm scares the f*ck out of me. I have enough trouble at 28mm. As I’ve mentioned before, you highlight a model to bring out the detail, and then put on a camouflage pattern to obscure it; it’s like sucking and blowing at the same time. I’ve dropped in on your project as well; great work so far! Please post pics when you’re done – I need the help.

Donga: here we call them ATCO’s, and there are quite a few people around here who buy land, set up an ATCO trailer, and save money to build their house… smart. I’ve seen people do the same with sea cans or train cabooses. They’re cheap as chips now that cabooses are no longer used on trains.

I used to think a gloss finish brought out the colours on models, but clearly I was mistaken. The orc cavalry looks much better with a matte finish. You’re right: it was a thing back in the day to coat with gobs of glossy crap.

@oriskany Right on the first guess… a water elemental. I won’t have time to light it up before the game at my LGS, but will tinker with it afterward.

Heavy infantry? No, this was the heavy infantry, the marsh trolls:

I gave Naval Command a passing glance in your initial battle report, but may go back into it for a closer look. Thanks for posting that.

@warzan I think we’ll have to agree to disagree. Any ‘community’ is composed of disparate groups of people with different interests who tend to gather with like-minded individuals. Take Winnipeg, for instance. Within it you have many different ethnic, cultural, religious, and political groups, and obviously a certain amount of cross pollination within these groups. We all interact in a variety of different circles.

I hang out with ex-military hobbyists, along with the military and ex-military people I work with. We have our own haunts within the city. Would I go into a gay bar for a beer? Unlikely… not because I have anything against them. It’s just not my crowd.

BoW is a large community with many different sub-groups and interests, but this thread, rejuvenated by @unclejimmy , is the only place where I feel I’m among my ‘tribe’, and can bitch about the things that bother me while sharing hobby stuff, and giving and receiving encouragement to ‘get ‘er done’. People don’t need to come crashing through the front door, swinging their dick (as tiny as it might be) and calling us racists and misogynists – we’re not. We’re also not saying “Fit in or fu** off.” Just show a little respect.

If they don’t like this community they don’t have to drink the Kool-Aid. There are plenty of other threads they can become involved in.

Kumbaya.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I ‘m late for my Ethiopian Coptic Christian service.
