Well the kickstarter reached $2,586,421,  for a targer of $30,000 not  a record for game Kickstarters but not bad at all.

Therefore the community is still there though how much it still is on this side of the pond?

looking at the breakdown of those pledging

U.S  7304

Canada 765

Germany  634

UK 626

so based on that less than 10% to u.s .

It would be interesting to see the figures of US to UK support for 40K @warzan may know based on sales .

But would that tell us anything?

The reason I say that if 40k has a reasonable retail base in the U.S, where as the retail base for Battletech seems to be virtually none existent at the moment. Although It never had the impact of 40k in the UK  up until maybe 5-10 years ago you could find the base game and the supplements such as max tech readily retail and at game shows etc. Not that I was looking but did the game have any presence at Salute @dignity and @brennon may have more idea as they got around a lot more than I did.

As Torros say there was the UK Battletech Society, and there had been Mechwarrior UK ( I think that was its name) which was actually better run than the U.S version run by a guy in Cardiff , he used to send superb membership material, kept a ranking leader board and even organised trips to Gen Con in the U.S supported by FASA at the the time. He was so good they offered him a job to move to the states to run the U.S one. Proving that in the past the game had an active community.

Did it die off due to the lack of new product appearing in the UK

@oriskany plays it and has put a brilliant series of articles on it (mentioned above) and it did raise a considerable amount of interest, but again how much was it from this side of the pond. Now this is a game that My group has not played for at least 6 years, though we have played alpha strike in the last year, but it was a game that was played for months at time in ongoing campaigns .

Now this could be as listed above due to the lack of availability new product or :

Is it also  because its and old game, the base games rules have not changed much since its inception , other than the introduction on Alpha Strike ( although they are a development on Battleforce 2) which I think 1st appeared at the UK Gen con back in 1995 ( the original idea was from a guy based in UK), it doesnt easily play in a few hours, although with the hex based mapboard you can play it on a kitchen table.

For this weekend to be feasible enough for the OTT crew to run, specially with the amount of work and late nights they throw into it, not to mention all the overtime covering the long hours of a weekend .

I think from this forum topic we may be showing that the UK/Europe support is there .

But is their an availability of new items to make it while for OTT to support?

One thing mentioned in the last update of the kickstarter is that the original starter and beginner boxes should be available again , so it will be interesting to see how many appear in uk retail outlets.

I fancied a copy of the new base game but it took me a couple of days to find anyone that still had it in stock, and one hopefully is winging its to me for my birthday next month. I was going to leave it till then to open it, but I will have a look at it  to check on rules changes plus have they changed anything on the base designs of the mechs provided in the box. I used to have an almost encyclopedic knowlege for wpns heat sinks and movrment  stats for all  the base game mechs in the old 3025 technical readout, be intersting to see how much I remember and has it changed.
