Have to agree with @tobymagill regarding History as a subject, plus a subject in school is only as boring or exciting as a teacher makes it.  A few years ago my nephew had to bring home made armour and weapons into school as they were reenacting the Battle of Hastings – he was quite enthusiastic after that and has picked it as one of his GCSEs.
