Pledge: Something something hobby. It’s best I don’t commit, as my weekends rarely turn out as planned. The residential sergeant major has a list…

1. What do I watch? War documentaries. Weird. I can see the same one fifty times but if it comes on TV everything stops, and I adopt a trance like state, with a stream of spittle dripping off my chin. The WWII ones have the worst effect on me. The new ones are good too, but there’s often unwanted analysis tossed in by pundits who don’t necessarily have a grip on the subject matter, or themselves. I’m looking at you, Lynette Nusbacher. I can draw my own conclusions, thank you.

2. I’m not a magpie when it comes to figures. I have set orbats for all my fantasy armies, and really only look for figures that fill slots or capabilities. For instance, I have long been looking for artillery for my orc horde, and when I saw the Zealot ballista wielding minotaur, I was sold.

I also need a few battering rams for the same army. These will do nicely:

I have been known to replace mini’s with better mini’s from time to time, even ones that aren’t painted yet.

Same goes for sci-fi. I’m currently putting together two Traveller combat teams, one human, and one alien, along with indigenous desert world critters. I don’t buy outside of what I need for that scenario, but I buy from many different companies to get the look I want.

Recently Vi talked me into 15mm WWII, but I haven’t bought much… yet. I could still have my magpie moment.

3. Plans for the future. I want to finish my Masters in Medieval History. I now have funding from Veterans Affairs to do so. I may work on a doctorate when I get to 65, as education is free after that. We’re a long lived bunch, so I will still have plenty of time to teach, or just continue to learn. Knowledge is its own reward.

@oriskany be safe. 140 mph winds can wreak havoc on a Panzer Leader board. 😉

Listening to Rush 2112 at the moment, trying to drown out the country music station playing in the next office.
