My take on the subject matter of the opening paragraph
Jellyspoons. I like it Were you game for some game?
I learned something knew about Saint Peter that’s for sure.
Fall ‘a chicken’ of you later?
My pledge is:
(1) Post pictures of models I completed last week
(2) Finish my Grimmer Hammers from the Hobbit
(3) Finish my Sons of Medusa Captain
(4) Work on a friend’s Warhammer Underworlds warband
(5) When I complete the above I will add more.
1. Terrain and terrain set-up. Do you just fling it together or does it have to look correct?
Both. It needs to look correct but I hate when I hear a competitive or tournament player go ‘there that’s better we have one hill on each side and one set of trees and something in the middle.’ No, terrain is not there to be fair, for advantage, or for balance. Look at real battles in history: it is something there and part of the world around it. I mean, don’t get me wrong people build castles in tactical places, but it’s a great steaming load of crap if someone tries to make it even, fair, correct or (too) pretty. The world, life and war is crazy and chaotic. It isn’t memorable and will never stand out as a game. I can remember games where I seriously had to deal with disadvantageous terrain being better tests of tactics or being super disadvantageous before both sides and giving a very distinct visual spectavle.
2. I watched a video where they were showing off a starter-set. Are you a straight from the box kind of girl or do you buy a rulebook, a few minis, some other bits, then get going? What do you think about “starter-sets”?
Both when the mood takes me, but to be fair with the last few sets I have assembled them as is. I like to do my own thing, but using GW as an example, most of their starter set stuff now tends to be mono post or buildable one way and not modular. While I do like to convert and kitbash I have not really indulged in that for some time.
I gave my Space Marines from Dark Imperium some Headswaps and I got a second set of Death Guard from Dark Imperium and modified them a bit here and there.
3. Did some reading to pass the time. Books to movies tend to not work very well, but is there any you like/love?
I liked Michael Moorcocks books. I think he has a writing style with an enjoyable and bearable flow and pace. The Eternal Champion stuff is great: Elric, Corum, Hawkmoon…
Ive reread the hobbit a few times but not the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and I like GRRMs A Song of Fire and Ice. However I do not read as much as I used to. Even comic books I have not gone back to for some time.
Im annoyed at myself not because I gave a very ‘cookie cutter’ answer.
4. Comedy sucks. Not all, but most. Your favourite double-act(s)?
Double acts on stage? Virtually none. I enjoyed Rick Mayall and Adrian Edmonson doing their Bottom tour years ago but nothing since. As for stand up I enjoy Jim Jefferies a lot. You should check out his Stand up specials on Netflix. Im afraid to post them here. Hannibal Buress is pretty good too.
As for music:
It’s a pop song but its good, and the main artists story is pretty good. In short his career wasn’t taking off, picked up on a music or social media platform and got super popular. The record company then turned around and said it wasn’t really country (because there was a lot of rap elements) and it wasn’t eligible for rewards despite doing well in country charts (because as most people reckon the people reckon their main motivation was because he was black and it was racists in the industry behind the decision.
The single then got a full release and topped charts internationally after he called Billy Ray Cyrus on social media to join him redoing the track and the rest was history:
