@warzan it may interest you to know that there’s some evidence that the arrow to the eye story may have been a Victorian age conspiracy theory. Apparently it sounded better, read as more romantic, to be killed by a random arrow than to admit you’d just been beaten. There’s some evidence that the Bayeux Tapestry was “repaired” in Victorian times and a few stitches may have been added to support the arrow to the eye story.

To be fair, it’s also possible that that part of the tapestry isn’t referring to King Harold at all and is just some random dude taking an arrow to the eye.
