For a change and quite different from the games mentioned so far I suggest “Dead Man´s Hand”.

The Wild West is something most people have heard about and it is a genre anyone can familarize with rather easily. This could make access easier for the new gamers.

Furthermore, warbands or better “gangs” are not more than seven figures per side. If you raise interest and the newbies want to have a go at painting, the job is not too overwhelming and they won´t be put off the whole affair right away.
